Ex-Amazon Recruiter | Executive Career Coach & Job Search Strategist | I Help Executives GET HIRED! | Specialized in Financial Services, Banking, and Tech | csgexecutivecoaching.com
Am I too old to get hired? I often get asked this question by job seekers. While ageism is a BIG problem (& I never include graduation years on resumes for executives) the GENDER PAY GAP is what truly frustrates me. I recently helped a female Managing Director get hired at a big US bank. She was excited when she received her offer after 7 virtual interviews and 2 on-sites (UGH!) as it was a $40K raise from her previous role. She finally broke into the $600K+ range. When we got on the call to discuss the next steps I was sad, angry, and frustrated. I told her that I was so glad about the offer but that I had recently helped a MALE job seeker get hired at the same bank at the same level. ➜ His offer letter from 3 months ago was $97,000 higher than hers. She didn't believe me but trusted that there was room for negotiation based on what I had said. She followed the annoying back-and-forth hassle with the recruiter and ultimately negotiated $50K more. Still significantly less than the male counterpart who was offered $47,000 more in the exact same bank. Call me crazy but I think THAT is the biggest problem in corporate America. How do we fix this? #EqualPay #GenderPayGap #Recruiting #Offers #GetHired

🔵 With unemployment levels declining, candidates are more choosy about what offers they accept. This, combined with messy and bureaucratic hiring processes, has increased the time it takes to fill open roles. --- #gh #recruiment #business #hiring

10/3/24 This morning we received data on September job cuts, with US-based employers announcing 72,821 layoffs. This is a 4% decrease from August's figure, but a large 53% increase when compared to September 2023. Initial jobless claims came in at 225k, an increase from last week's 219k as well exceeding the 221k expected. Continuing Claims came in at 1.826M, below the 1.830M expected and a slight decrease from last week's 1.827M. Tomorrow is Jobs Friday. Nonfarm payrolls are expected to increase by 150k from the prior month. A figure lower than this can lead to a rally in the bond market, with a higher figure leading to a sell off. #Mortgage #RealEstate
