Today is #NationalNumeracyDay - an awareness day led by National Numeracy. I work for the Multiply project at Bristol City Council. Multiply supports adults who don't have a grade C/ level 4 in GCSE Maths or a Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths. Multiply has FREE courses available for adults to improve their numeracy skills. For the Multiply project, I created a Multiply blog to showcase the work we do and the impact it has had on on adults who have been engaged with our courses. https://lnkd.in/e9bXMMAe #SkillsforLife #Multiply #Bristol

Congratulations to Annabel Canaven and Louise Powditch, who recently completed our government-funded Multiply course in Supporting your Family’s Numeracy 🎉 This six-week course will equip you with basic numeracy skills and teaching methods that match the way your children are learning maths in school, so you can support them with their homework. Annabel commented: "The course has really given me the confidence to want to do maths again after many years and even enjoy it!" Louise added: "Suzanne was an awesome tutor who is patient and knowledgeable. The course content covered many relevant topics which really helped me gain confidence with my maths, so I feel more able to support my children with their homework." We offer a variety of Multiply courses, helping you with your numeracy skills in the workplace and at home - and all completely free to the learner! Everyone has huge potential often not accessed because of the barriers put up through past failings - usually maths and English my work aims to change that.
Day 5 of 30 days to improve my Numeracy as part of the National Numeracy Challenge. "Find resources to help with managing money, getting on at work and supporting kids. ..." This will be a fun challenge and very relevant to the work I am doing to support the GMLPNs Maths Ambassador Programme as part of building the toolkit for Ambassadors to access and use with learners and colleagues. Grantham College & University Centre I like the idea of doing a course so I can better understand what my 6 year old is referring to when she talks about number bonds plus various other terms, and she tries to explain the systems she's using to do multiplication, which all seems different from when I learnt it! Do other people feel the same i.e. lost?? These courses look great for a confidence boost. #multiply #maths

I wanted to let you know that I’ve recently completed National Numeracy's training programme and I am now a fully CPD accredited Numeracy Champion. This means that if you don’t feel confident with numbers or would like to improve your everyday maths, I can support you. So, please get in touch if you’d like to: • learn about resources you can access to improve your confidence with numbers as an adult, • simply talk about how you feel about numbers or maths, • find out about locally available free courses and provision. Why not have a go at the National Numeracy Challenge? It’s a free website or app designed for adults who don’t always feel confident with numbers – have a go today using this link https://lnkd.in/eSZBjnnc However you feel about maths, you’re not alone. Many of us want to get better with our everyday maths but are held back by feeling it's something that we can't improve. Being good with numbers isn’t a special talent, it’s something we can all learn.
