In this narrative, he underscores the challenge of managing patient expectations, particularly regarding the misconception that surgery can restore lost vision. Dr. Kubal emphasizes surgery's primary goal: halting glaucoma progression. He acknowledges the reluctance of patients to opt for surgery due to perceived risks, such as infection and vision loss. However, he highlights the integration of newer technologies into practice, which significantly reduces these risks. By embracing advanced surgical techniques earlier in the disease course, Dr. Kubal aims to enhance patient outcomes, improve quality of life, reduce dependency on eye drops, and prevent further vision loss in individuals with glaucoma.
