Hi Everyone!
My name is Kristyn Castello, and I'm the Founder of KHR Consulting. I wanted to introduce myself.
I have worked in human resources exclusively for the last 5 years, but I have been dabbling in it for more than 13.
I grew up in Lafayette, LA around a family business and was lucky enough to get a front row seat in how to treat your people right. I watched the operations and strategic decisions that helped the company grow, and I saw the opportunities and brain storming sessions when times were challenging. I was fascinated with how businesses work.
To grow a successful business, we have to communicate with audiences and stakeholders both internally and externally. So, I went to school for Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. I learned about messaging and branding and how to tailor communications to different groups. I learned about crisis communications and how to handle critical situations. And although I would have loved to work in crisis communications for a little while, there weren't many jobs at the time. I still get to use that skillset frequently because effective communication through exciting and trying times is a necessity in HR.
From there, I moved to New Orleans for nine years and absolutely fell in love with the city. I was amazed by the people and the vibrant life that one place could hold. While I was there, I got my law degree and MBA. More importantly, I learned a ton about myself and others and what it takes to make people feel included and valued. Between the food and the music and the festivals, and of course Mardi Gras, the culture is unmatched. There is a home for everyone in that city, no matter who you are.
I was sad to leave but also so excited for my next adventure in Baton Rouge, where I live now. I have a wonderful husband and a beautiful baby girl, and I love being their wife and mom.
I've worked in several industries from nonprofit, manufacturing & distribution, construction, legal, higher education, to private equity. The biggest lesson I've learned is that at the end of the day, people are people. We need to feel valued and respected, and we need to feel like we have purpose. If we can make those things happen, we have created a culture for success.
I wholeheartedly believe that people are a business' most valuable asset. That is why I focus in this area. I get to do what I love every day through KHR Consulting. I feel included and valued and have purpose here, and I get to see success through all of our growth - with our team, our clients, and within my own family.
We would love to help you develop your team and HR program, and I am happy to answer any questions. Send me an email if you want to chat: kristyn@khrconsults.com.
