#SocialBusinessWordoftheDay - Mission Statement Mission Statements are statements which explains "HOW" the social business is able to achieve the benefits for its customer / target audience.
A mission statement is a cornerstone for any social business, defining its essence, purpose, and strategies for social impact. The mission of social businesses should be clear: to create sustainable solutions, empower communities for economic independence, and enhance quality of life. These businesses are catalysts for social change, environmental stewardship, and inclusive growth. #SocialBusiness #MissionStatement #SocialImpact #SocEnt #SocialPurpose

Waste to Wonder Worldwide are proud supporters of the Future Economy Alliance! As an enthusiastic member of the UK’s social enterprise movement, we see the profound impact our sector makes every day. Social enterprises like ours blend profit with purpose, tackling issues from homelessness to environmental sustainability. Our mission-driven approach creates sustainable solutions and fosters long-term change. Our sector doesn’t just boost the economy; we provide meaningful jobs, support vulnerable communities, and promote social cohesion. With the crucial election on 4th July approaching, we urge the incoming government to recognize the potential of social enterprises. Regardless of the winning party, it’s essential they acknowledge our leadership and innovative solutions. By integrating social enterprise strategies into their policies, the government can address major issues more effectively and inclusively. At Waste to Wonder Worldwide we believe that Social Enterprises are driving a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous future. Advancing Social Impact | Innovation for Positive Change | Research | Fundraising | Resource Mobilization l Project Management | GREAT Scholar 2024-25 | The Social Hub Impact Scholarship Scholar 2024-25
"Rewiring the Economy" proposes a shift towards a sustainable and resilient future. As a business community, what should we make of this shift? Can philanthropic organizations incentivize sustainable innovation through R&D support? Besides tax breaks, what other measures can governments take to encourage this shift? Are regulatory streamlining and knowledge-sharing platforms critical in this regard? While acknowledging the risks posed by climate change, regulation, and consumer preferences, I believe that they present opportunities for innovation, cost saving, and brand enhancement for businesses. It is up to each company to seize these opportunities by setting clear sustainability goals, innovating solutions, and operating transparently. It is crucial to strike the right balance between accountability and profitability to ensure balanced measures that encourage responsible business practices without hindering growth. #RewiringTheEconomy #SustainableBusiness #Philanthropy #ImpactInvesting #GlobalGoals

In the social impact space, how we evaluate our projects can profoundly influence our overall success and the lasting benefits we provide to communities. Traditionally, many projects are assessed based solely on their immediate outputs. While short-term achievements are important, they often don’t tell the whole story. For projects that are often evaluated based solely on immediate outputs, they typically focus on metrics like the number of beneficiaries reached or the amount of resources distributed. While these indicators are valuable, they can be misleading if they don't reflect the actual, sustained change in the lives of those we aim to help. Immediate outputs provide a snapshot but often fail to capture the deeper, long-term impacts of our efforts. By shifting our focus to long-term outcomes, we can better understand the real, lasting effects of our work. This means looking beyond the initial numbers to consider how our interventions improve lives over time. Are we helping to build self-sufficient communities? Are the benefits of our programs enduring beyond the project’s duration Are we creating lasting change? When we prioritize sustainable impact, we commit to making a real difference. It’s not just about what we achieve today but how our efforts will continue to benefit future generations. Let’s move towards a more holistic evaluation of our projects, focusing on sustainable, long-term outcomes that truly enhance the well-being of communities. Also curious about what we do? 🧵 We need to change how our economy works to halt and reverse the decline of nature in Wales by 2030. Social enterprises are already leading the way. We’ve responded to Welsh Parliament's climate consultation outlining what we need to do to support them. 🍃 We know the situation is stark, with WWF Cymru claiming ‘Wales is now one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth’ in their State of Nature report 2023. We’re backing WWF Cymru’s calls for nature to be at the heart of decision-making. ➡️: https://buff.ly/3YS1m4U 🌍 We need to move away from an economy that takes little account of risk to green spaces and chases profit at all costs. Social enterprises build impactful, sustainable businesses in a different way – by prioritising the well-being of communities, local economies and the planet. ✊ We support inspiring social enterprises to put this idea into action. Bringing local social enterprises into the mission ensures community buy-in and leads to greater awareness of the issue. By working together, we can reverse nature loss and create sustainable, connected communities – and protect and restore nature. 💭 We’ve made recommendations to the Welsh Government (Llywodraeth) to protect and revitalise our beautiful Welsh environment, to engage communities in finding and implementing the solutions needed to do this, and to transform the wider economy to be more sustainable and nature-friendly: 🔵 Make social enterprise and community ownership the business model of choice as part of transforming to a sustainable and nature-friendly economy. 🔵 Promote the community ownership of land and spaces for nature and facilitate this through legislation. 🔵 Expand specialist support to social enterprises to grow and maximise their impact across different sectors. 🔵 Embed a well-being economy approach across economic development policy, ensuring that the well-being of people and planet is at the heart of the economic agenda. 📘 Thanks for reading – you can see our blogpost spotlighting social enterprises who are leading the way for the planet and read the full consultation response.
