Irwin Group Project Highlight ⬇️ In one of our recent projects, the vessel was scheduled to be in dry dock for a short 6 day docking and required pipe renewal. Traditionally, renewing a pipe with complex geometry during a vessel's docking would involve waiting until the vessel is in the dry dock, disassembling the old pipe, sending it to a workshop to be copied, coated, and then re-fitted. This process can be time-consuming, often requiring more time than available when docking for a short period. However, we took proactive measures by surveying the pipe with #Automet to create accurate pipe measurements before the vessel even entered the dry dock. With these measurements, we pre-fabricated and lined the new spools, ready to fit the moment the vessel docked ⛴️ #ShipRepair #PipeRefurbishment

MINIMUM LOCAL CONTENT It could be that only building the H2 PLANT on top of the MXLP5000 locally will satisfy local content requirements. In that case the entire structure can be built in any 80m wide graving dock. The 3 main components (deck, column assembly & heave plate) can be pinned together in the dock. The heave plate can be leaned back and welded to tubular struts. A submersible HTV the size of the “Vanguard” can transport the MXLP5000 structure from the graving dock to the local port the H2 plant will be built. This work will be done at a low elevation while the MXLP is floating next to a long quay.

Floating Roofs Corrosions Floating Roofs are generally constructed from steel plates of 5 or 6mm thick. Poor drainage may result in pools of rainwater on the centre deck. In combination with sand or dirt blown onto the roof by wind, this may damage the protective paint layer and cause corrosion. The corrosion may in turn increase the possibility of fatigue cracking of lap welds. Serious corrosion may cause leaks in the centre deck of pontoon roofs and, as the oil level is higher than the centre deck, will result in a flooded roof. To avoid flooding and progressive corrosion, regular inspection and maintenance should be conducted. Corrosion may also be present around roof supporting legs and sleeves both internally and externally.
