We are thrilled to announce Glenmark Foundation's strategic partnership with CNES and the District Administration Darrang to launch a pioneering boat clinic program in Assam. This initiative focused on maternal and child health, aims to deliver essential healthcare services to remote riverine communities, particularly addressing the challenges posed by seasonal flooding. Access to healthcare in remote communities is a significant challenge due to geographical barriers and frequent flooding, which often isolates these areas and disrupts healthcare delivery. This boat clinic initiative is designed to overcome these challenges by providing a mobile healthcare unit that can navigate flood-affected regions with a special focus on women and children, who are the most vulnerable in difficult conditions. The boat is equipped with a laboratory and pharmacy and will provide immunizations, prenatal care, and health education, ensuring continuous healthcare access in vulnerable areas. This initiative underscores Glenmark’s commitment to social responsibility and creating impactful health solutions, aligning with our “Healthy Children, Healthier World” mission. By bridging healthcare gaps, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. #Glenmark #HealthcareInnovation #MaternalAndChildHealth #BoatClinic #CommunityHealth #AssamHealthcare #SocialResponsibility #ANewWayForANewWorld

The Arogya Project, an Intertek India #CSR initiative, was launched in October last year in association with SARISKA SEVA SANSTHAN. Aimed at bridging the #healthcare gap in disadvantaged rural communities across India, the Arogya Project delivers preventive and curative healthcare services to 20 villages currently, with a special focus on remote regions that lack access to basic medical facilities. In just seven months, the project team has organized 148 health camps, directly benefiting nearly 15,000 individuals. These camps provide immediate medical attention to patients and refer more serious cases to government hospitals for advanced treatments. So far, more than 350 such patient cases have received referrals. Recently, a Specialized Health Camp was conducted in Kethunur village in Tiruppur district. Driven by major disease trend analyses, chiefly bone-related ailments, communicable diseases, nutrition, hygiene, and skin conditions, this camp catered to 238 patients, offering not only comprehensive #medicalcare but also an informative session on general health issues. Shared here is a glimpse of the camp day; as seen, captured, and shared by one of our local employees. The Arogya Project is an ongoing success story of making essential medical services accessible to those who need them the most, and in doing so, bringing safety and quality to life for thousands. #communitywelfare #healthcamp #sustainabledevelopment Build Back Ever Better - #BBEB Video by Imran Khan

On 5th June 2024: We marked a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts to tackle leprosy across the borders of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh. The joint meeting of the ILEP (International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations) and NLEP (National Leprosy Eradication Programme) consultants, specifically focused on leprosy case follow-up in cross-border and cross-state scenarios, was a long-awaited initiative. Key attendees included ILEP consultants from the three states, Dr. Milind, Superintendent of TLMTI Kothara Hospital, and other notable health officials and stakeholders. The meeting commenced with special thanks extended to Dr. Milind for his instrumental role in facilitating this historic gathering, along with appreciation for the active participation and contributions of the fellow ILEP consultants. The discussions highlighted the challenges of tracking and managing leprosy cases across state borders, identifying issues such as inconsistent data sharing, differences in treatment protocols, and logistical difficulties in patient follow-up. To address these, the meeting proposed establishing a robust inter-state communication protocol, standardizing treatment protocols, and developing a coordinated approach to manage patient referrals and follow-ups. Key solutions included the formation of an Inter-State Coordination Committee, regular training programs for health workers on standardized protocols, and leveraging technology to create an integrated database for real-time patient tracking. This meeting marked a significant step forward, with participants leaving with a renewed sense of commitment and a clear action plan to tackle the identified challenges, setting a precedent for future cooperation in public health initiatives. 🌍 Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: Transforming Lives and Health in India! 🚽✨ Since its launch in 2014, the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) has been a game-changer for sanitation and public health in India. Here’s how it has impacted society: Dramatic Increase in Toilet Access: Over 109 million toilets were constructed, significantly reducing open defecation from 60% to 19% in just five years. This monumental shift has transformed hygiene practices across rural India. Reduction in Child Mortality: The SBM is linked to a remarkable decrease in infant mortality rates (IMR) and under-five mortality rates (U5MR). Districts with more than 30% toilet coverage saw a reduction of 5.3 IMR and 6.8 U5MR per thousand live births, potentially averting 60,000–70,000 infant deaths annually. Health Benefits: Improved sanitation has led to healthier children, with studies showing enhanced growth and immune responses among young ones. This is crucial for a country where child mortality remains a significant concern. Community Engagement: SBM's approach included extensive awareness campaigns, training programs, and community involvement, fostering a culture of cleanliness and hygiene. Sustainable Practices: The mission also emphasized waste management systems, ensuring that the benefits of sanitation are sustained over time. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is not just about toilets; it's about dignity, health, and a cleaner future for all! Let’s continue to support this movement for a healthier India! https://lnkd.in/gC4ZxBDi 🇮🇳💚 #swachhataspecialcampaign4 #SwachhBharat #CleanIndia #PublicHealth #Sanitation #ChildHealth #CommunityImpact

Founder & Director at NutriHealthPlus Pvt Ltd Health-Tech | Corporate Wellness | Nutrition & Fitness | R&D
NutriHealthPlus recently organised a vital initiative aimed at fostering child health and nutrition in rural areas through a Child Health Camp at Chennai. In a significant move towards enhancing community health standards, this camp carried out body analysis of 250 students, marking a substantial step in understanding and addressing the health and nutritional needs of the rural young populace. The event was not only the assessment but also the provision of customized nutritional plans for each child. This personalized approach ensures that nutritional guidance is not generalized but rather tailored to meet individual needs, thereby optimizing health outcomes. Moreover, recognizing the pivotal role of parents in the implementation of these nutritional plans, the camp also included an educational session for parents. This session underscored the importance of nutrition and exercise in the overall development of their children, empowering them with the knowledge to make informed health decisions for their families. The successful execution of such a comprehensive health initiative could not have been possible without the collaboration and support of our esteemed partners. Pratima Foundation and TM Automotive Seating systems played a crucial role in organizing this event, showcasing their commitment to societal wellbeing and community service. This health camp is more than just an event; it's a ray of hope and a testament to what can be achieved when organizations come together for a common cause. The insights gained regarding the health statistics in rural areas will undoubtedly contribute to better-targeted interventions in the future, ensuring that no child is left behind in our quest for a healthier tomorrow. We are profoundly grateful to everyone involved in making this camp a reality and remain dedicated to continuing such initiatives that prioritize the well-being of our future generations. #childhealth #ruralhealth #childnutrition #chennai #fitindia #childhealth #socialresponsibility

Thanks, Mark Suzman for this sharing this paper by my colleagues at International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Congratulations to Suman Chakrabarti, PhD Soyra Gune Parvati Singh on this independent peer-reviewed piece of research. Many questions remain, of course, but large-scale efforts and data systems surrounding them do enable researchers to undertake such pieces of work. Our research teams are skilled at using publicly available data to examine the potential impacts of such efforts. In India, we have done this for cash transfer programs, for the school meals program, for the nutrition program (watch this space!) and more. A critical need is investments in the types of data systems that enable researchers to use their skills to understand how these programs roll out and achieve their impact. On this, there is also much scope for improvement across the board on data systems, data availability and transparency.
