The national rail plan in India has set a target to raise the current 27% share of freight traffic to 45% by the year 2030. However, private rail freight operators face government regulatory complexities. To overcome these challenges, freight operators must establish unified operational models for guiding strategic decisions and policies. Till 1990s = ~𝟭𝟳 𝗞𝗺/𝗵𝗿 Between 1991 - 2020 = ~𝟮𝟯 𝗞𝗺/𝗵𝗿 | 𝗨𝗽 𝟯𝟱% 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟬𝘀 2021 - present = ~𝟰𝟬 𝗸𝗺/𝗵𝗿 | 𝗨𝗽 𝟳𝟰% 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲 #indianrailways is setting stage to think #new #logistics #design It is now better compared to average road freight speed in India, which is still at ~35 𝘒𝘮/𝘩𝘳 (12.5% 𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴) at an aggregate average. This holds immense untapped potential to achieve the logistics efficiencies at national scale.
