The Open Parliament of Albania, Tirana, Albania 2011 The design incorporates fundamental democratic values such as openness, transparency and public co-determination. The simultaneity of competing political concepts within a democratic society is translated into the design concept: Different building elements are not opposed, but coexist in one building ensemble with a contemporary aesthetic that allows visualizing new functions and meanings. https://lnkd.in/dCnk27xP <<Besides the alliance during WWI, active Hungarian and Ottoman-Turkish cultural and diplomatic relations also marked the 1910s. The cooperation that blossomed during the period led to unique knowledge transfer between the young Republic of Türkiye and post-war Hungary in diplomacy, education and culture, as well as in various sectors of the economy, including industry, agriculture, infrastructure development, urban development, and architecture. The activities of Hungarian architects in the Turkish Republic can be observed in several areas, including the design of buildings in the new capital, Ankara, conceptual proposals for urban planning, landscape architecture, surveys of historic buildings and built heritage conservation initiatives, participation in international design competitions, or jury membership for competitions and also in education. >> #Turkey #Ankara #Hungarians #architecture #jury #heritage #design #conservation #design #competitions #education #global #urban

Why is political vision in Ireland so terribly lacking? When challenged in the Dail, ministers will claim to have excellent vision. However, I suggest this vision barely extends to the political horizon. A matter of some 5 kilometers on a good day, if viewed at sea level! Sadly, our political leaders are quite unable to see beyond their own political horizon and, only ever play infrastructural catch-up on all fronts. The many examples include: A (totally inadequate!) 2 lane M5, even when this major Dublin ring road was grant aided by the EU. A still incomplete 3000 room hospital, brilliantly sited on a handkerchief. The Western Development Commission's latest 25 year Report, is yet another Report outlining the Western Region's current infrastructural shortcomings. Yet in post-war Germany, the magnificent 171km long Rhine-Main-Danube ship canal, linking the North Sea with the Black Sea, was built at an estimated cost of a mere €2.3 billion. For examples of one man's apolitical vision for the Western Ireland Region see:
