Ukraine is in constant need of drones WHY? 👇 A Visual Explanation from Top Lead russian forces possess numerous electronic warfare systems designed to jam drones, requiring drone operators to navigate around russian radio interference. Due to the potential failure in bypassing these jamming efforts, a single drone per target is insufficient. Drones are essentially consumables, and Ukraine needs a substantial number of them. Drones save the lives of Ukrainian defenders. 🙏🏼 Please, support our initiative. The link is below. #Drones #Technology #Innovations #StandWithUkraine

Revolutionizing Warfare: Low-Cost UAVs Shift the Balance of Power, Says Gen. Hecker At the 2024 AFA Warfare Symposium, Gen. James Hecker highlighted the transformative role of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in modern warfare, as evidenced by Ukraine's innovative use against a technologically superior adversary. Despite financial constraints, Ukraine's deployment of low-cost drones and improvised detection systems has not only proven effective in combat but also offers a blueprint for future warfare strategies. This approach underscores the importance of creativity and cost-efficiency in enhancing defense capabilities. Key Themes: 1- Innovative Use of Low-Cost UAVs: Emphasizing the strategic deployment of inexpensive drones for significant operational impact. 2- Cost-Effective Defense Mechanisms: Highlighting the development of affordable solutions for detecting and neutralizing threats. 3- Strategic Implications for NATO and Beyond: Discussing the broader implications for NATO members and potential shifts in global military strategies. 4- Future of Air Superiority: Considering the evolving definition of air superiority in the context of accessible UAV technology. Data Insights: - FPV Drones' Effectiveness: First-person view drones have outperformed traditional artillery in certain combat scenarios in Ukraine. - Improvised UAV Detection: Ukraine's use of cell phones mounted on poles for UAV detection, a solution costing merely $500, significantly undercutting traditional defense expenditures. - High Success Rate: The improvised system enabled the downing of 80 out of 84 detected UAVs using anti-aircraft artillery, showcasing the effectiveness of low-cost defense strategies. Conclusions and Recommendations: Gen. Hecker concludes that the future of warfare will increasingly rely on low-cost, innovative solutions like those demonstrated by Ukraine. These strategies not only ensure effective defense but also force adversaries to expend more resources, thereby altering the cost-benefit analysis of military engagements. The recommendation for NATO and its allies is clear: invest in and develop accessible UAV technology and other cost-effective defense mechanisms. This approach not only broadens participation in collective defense but also ensures a more sustainable and adaptable military strategy in the face of evolving global threats. https://lnkd.in/g39ZeSsR #MilitaryInnovation #UAVTechnology #DefenseStrategy #NATO #AirSuperiority #CostEffectiveDefense #MilitaryLeadership #AFAWarfareSymposium #BSS #LOWtech #hightech #WSJ #soundsensors

You may notice that #FPV and #multicopter drones can be (much) cheaper than $10k shown in this visual. The problem is that the cost difference between them and the more sophisticated drones is simply too great to visualise. That's the point. That 10k circle is barely a pixel already. The kind of drones that are subject to mass deployments and those getting most of 🇺🇦 #Ukraine's innovation attention (including #AI integration) are largely disposable, one-way-attack #OWA drones located in the lower half of the table. With extremely pixelated (low) prices per unit.
The rise of drones From $10K tactical models to $150M high-tech systems, #drones have become essential tools in conflicts worldwide. In Ukraine, both sides are deploying thousands of drones daily, creating a widening gap between #Ukraine, Russia, and the rest of the world. This isn't just about the quantity or quality of drones, it’s about the battle for dominance between drones and the countermeasures designed to stop them. Europe needs to quickly adapt to the evolving drone landscape, both defensively and offensively, warn Jan Joel Andersson and Sascha Simon. To fully embrace the drone evolution, the EU must leverage Ukraine’s expertise and support its drone warfare efforts, while building its own drone-specific defence production capacity. 👉 Read the full analysis: https://lnkd.in/eAEMdEwU #EUdefence

https://lnkd.in/g7ABfcCZ Russia's throwing away an advantage of the Soviet-style tank by building weird cage armor to shield them from drones The threat of drones has forced both Ukraine and Russia to adapt, including welding cages onto their tanks. Soviet-style tanks are known for being smaller and harder to hit, but the cages, especially the weirder ones, can remove that advantage. Russia may consider that an acceptable trade-off since tank-on-tank battles are rare but drones are everywhere.

Drones are rapidly expanding into new areas of use, and the threat they pose is growing and evolving at an alarming rate. The time to think about counter-drone systems was yesterday. Now, it is imperative that we urgently determine the number and capacity of counter-drone systems we need to deploy. https://lnkd.in/dZf6cqVW

How do you think this will impact retail performance in Q4? It’s worth remembering that talk of economic recovery usually works on a basis of no sudden shocks to the economy. If Ukraine’s counteroffensive continues to gather steam, it could cause significant disruption to international energy markets. UK energy prices are already forecast to rise by 9% in September. Don’t be surprised if that figure rises. And that will propel the cost-of-living crisis straight back to the very top of the agenda for all UK retailers in the run up to Christmas. #Conflict #Macroeconomics #Disruption #Retail

The cat and mouse game between drones and anti-drone capabilities over Ukraine is like the contest between allied bombers and German anti-aircraft capabilities in World War 2. One technological development gives a temporary advantage to one side until it’s neutralized by another one. How to integrate anti-aircraft guns, jammers, and now these weapons will dictate results on the battlefield. AI will be increasingly used to increase their efficiency as well. One wonders who has the advantage here. Ukraine due to their more innovative forces, and potential superior technology given from the West? Or Russia with its far larger stocks of drones, and potentially limitless supplies of those from China. #ukrainewar #drones
