How much of global greenhouse gas emissions come from plastics? Plastic production and disposal emits around 3% of global emissions. The developing Global Plastics Treaty presents a historic opportunity for systemic change to end plastic pollution. As we approach the final rounds of negotiation, our GPAP team Clemence Schmid, Roisin Greene and Pedro São Simão are speaking with stakeholders in Nairobi at UNEA-6 to share essential lessons drawn from engaging with national partners and mobilizing 15 national plastic action partnerships (NPAPs) across Asia, Africa and Latin America.
