"20 new HR metrics for today's work world" via Forbes Many of these are not new, but this one simply leaves me utterly baffled!! "Remote Engagement Efficiency"...huh? "This measures the balance between employee engagement and productivity within remote settings, highlighting the effectiveness of virtual collaboration and work-life balance. By understanding this balance, organizations can refine remote work practices to boost both well-being and outcomes." - double huh. Balance between employee engagement and productivity??? So somehow engagement and productivity are now antipodes??? HR doesn't need "innovative" metrics. HR needs strategic metrics that are TRUE indicators or proxy measures for an outcome of interest, not made up ones with good intentions. Just because it is posted on Forbes does not make it so. #EBHR #HCM #HRMetrics https://lnkd.in/gbbR7YBJ

9️⃣ 0️⃣ percent of leaders think an employee engagement strategy will impact overall business success, however only thirty-four percent of the U.S. workforce say they currently feel engaged in their workplace – so where’s the disconnect? 💡 In 2024, we’ve began to see a major relationship reset between employers and their employees. Part of this shift stems from the drastic changes we’ve seen in where and how people work. While remote and hybrid-capable careers have become a huge necessity for many, research indicates HOW employees are managed has about 4x as much influence on employee engagement and wellbeing in comparison to their actual work location. Radical changes in where and how organizations do business often leads to stress and disconnected employees if not done thoughtfully. Which leads me to Thought Leadership… 💭 Thought leadership and innovative approaches are crucial for the future of Human Resources (HR) as they help organizations stay competitive and adapt to the rapidly changing business environment. Thought leadership in HR involves introducing and advocating for new ideas, practices, and technologies that improve employee engagement, productivity, and overall workplace culture. Innovative HR approaches leverage advancements such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and flexible work models to enhance recruitment, employee development, and retention strategies. By embracing these forward-thinking practices, HR can drive organizational success, foster a more dynamic and resilient workforce, and create a more inclusive and supportive work environment. Which in turn often leads to higher employment desirability, decreased turnover, and higher overall profitability. ➡ The first step in innovative, thoughtful leadership is having the right tools and expert guidance. According to Gallup, only 21% of employees are engaged at work, while 60% say they’re emotionally detached. “With the persistence of low engagement, organizations have to rethink the experience they’re providing their employees or risk the ramifications of not evolving,” said Steve Boese, HR Technology Conference program chair. #WLA #workforcelifecycleanalytics #employeeengagement #employeesurveys #employeeretention #motivation #HRMorning

I recently read a thought-provoking article from Forbes HR Council discussing non-traditional and emerging metrics to align with the current business landscape. Some of these metrics, like Remote Engagement Efficiency, Collaborative Diversity Engagement Score, Return on Commute, and Employee Well-Being Score, were new to me. Others, such as Talent Mobility Rating, raised questions about their distinctiveness. The metrics should reflect a company's values, culture, and objectives. Each organization's unique identity will determine which success metrics best align with its mission. I am curious which of these innovative metrics resonates most with you? #HR #Metrics #EmployeeEngagement #ForbesInsights

Well, establishing and *communicating* purpose. It's always surprising to me how challenging, how much work it is to communicate clearly and effectively. Frequency is important. Clarity is critical. The former take discipline, the latter real skill... which develops with practice. Every organization should have clear, consistent communication about purpose as a basic practice.
Employee engagement, a critical success factor in today's economy, starts with establishing clear shared purpose. Technology is helpful if it supports connection and collaboration between people, not if it's intended to control them.
