Becoming an HR influencer transcends mere recognition; it requires a profound dedication fueled by passion and humility. True influencers in the HR realm understand that their role extends beyond accolades to making a tangible impact on society. Passion drives them to tirelessly advocate for employee well-being, diversity, equity, and inclusion. It fuels their commitment to fostering positive workplace cultures and driving meaningful change. However, it's the humility that truly sets them apart. Humble HR influencers recognize that they are part of a larger ecosystem and that their success is not solely their own. They actively seek collaboration, listen attentively to diverse perspectives, and remain open to learning and evolving. Their humility enables them to empathize with others, acknowledging both their strengths and limitations, and fostering genuine connections that inspire trust and respect. Ultimately, becoming an HR influencer is not about personal glory, but about understanding the profound impact one can have on individuals, organizations, and society as a whole. It's about using one's platform to elevate voices, champion causes, and drive positive change for the greater good.

This brings the debate on whether Profit comes first or People comes first. Without #People there is no #Profit Without #Purpose there is no sustainable Profit and #Planet. Without #Profit it’s a challenge to fulfil commitments to other Ps. So when you attend interview just know that candidates can select employers and managers too. I recently attended the Progressive Institute Botswana's 7th Strategic HR Conference where i gained valuablee insights into the evolving landscape of work and talent management. Tebatso Hule delivered a thought provoking presentation on, Building Bridges in the digital revolution, emphasizing that the nature of work, workers and workplaces is rapidly changing. His point about focusing on delivery over presenteeism-evaluating whether people are truly delivering results or merely present-was particularly striking. As he aptly put it, 'if we don't change, change will happen to us.' This theme of embracing change was echoed by Machel Sekwakwa who highlighted the importance of data-driven decision making in talent management. He urged us to remove subjectivity from our processes and define what high performance looks like, ensuring that our actions are rooted in objective analysis. His insights into buidling a high-impact talent management framework were a powerful reminder that an organization thrives only when it's people do. Bao Mosinyi, PhD, CEO CAAB, closed the day with a powerrful call to action, stressing the urgency of change. He warned against the, 'tranquilizing drug of gradualism,' and share his own experience of implementing rapid, decisive transformation at CAAB. His principles of respect and truth, no matter how convenient, resonated deeply with me, especially as we navigate a signifcant transformation at Lowapi Study Centre. Reflecting on these discussions, i'm reminded of the importance of balancing empathy with the clear-eyed decision-making needed to drive our organization forward. As we continue our journey at Loeapi, these insights will be crucial in shaping our path towards becoming a high-performing organization.
