The Power of Precision: Why Millimeters Matter in Fashion In garment engineering, a millimeter can make or break a design. The tiniest adjustments in pattern making, seam allowance, or fabric choice can transform the final product. Precision isn’t just a skill—it’s an art form that separates the good from the great in fashion. Why Precision is Crucial: Seam Allowances: A small deviation can lead to poor fit or discomfort. Pattern Adjustments: Minor tweaks can drastically alter a garment’s appearance and functionality. Fabric Cutting: Precision ensures minimal waste and optimal fabric use. Maintaining Precision Under Pressure: -Use calibrated tools and regularly check measurements. -Double-check patterns and cuts before proceeding. -Collaborate closely with your team to ensure consistency. What are your tips for maintaining precision in garment design? How do you ensure accuracy under tight deadlines? Let’s share our best practices. #FashionEngineering #AttentionToDetail #QualityCraftsmanship
Grading rules based on anthropometric data is paramount. Industry traditional grading rules predate anthropometric surveys and do not match the size increments in actual bodies. Precision cannot be achieved if the grading is based on assumptions instead of data. Clear communication of sizing and biotype ia also important.
Of course accuracy is important, when making a garment . However even before the generation of a garment it is the design, the pattern technology and making up process that can really make or break a collection ,a company, the industry and the world, from pollution. These stages seem to be the villains of the game!
Seam allowance can also maintain the consistency during sewing by adding or using a small guide which detachable to the machine ,or permanent guide taped to the footpress.
Yes 🙌 thank you 😊

5moIt's important to understand what is achievable in terms of measurement repetition when considering accuracy. Further when we cut patterns that are engineered to the body, maybe then we can focus on the notion of mm precision afforded by digital tools. It's not that accuracy is not important, but if it's not consistently applied throughout all the stages, it's impact can become lost in the outcome.
