Advanced adversaries are acquiring intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities and other tools that will make it easier to locate American troops. To counter that, U.S. special operations forces need to hone their ability to achieve “security through obscurity” on “hyper-transparent battlefields,” officials say. During the post-9/11 Global War on Terror, U.S. commandos squared off against relatively low-tech adversaries. However, with the Pentagon’s focus now turned toward competition with nations like China and Russia and the proliferation of advanced technology, the SOF community faces new challenges. https://lnkd.in/eBC86PbE

🚨Alliance Future Surveillance & Control is NATO’s flagship programme, driving the digital transformation of tactical operations and pushing the boundaries of Multi-Domain Operations. Developed by NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and other #NATO entities, it integrates technologies into a cohesive operational framework that enhances Alliance-wide interoperability. 🎯 Alliance Future Surveillance & Control will provide real-time situational awareness across all domains—air, land, sea, space, and cyber—enabling #NATO forces to act with unmatched precision. 🤝 The partnership between NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and NATO Air Command is central to Alliance Future Surveillance & Control’s success. Air Command’s operational expertise ensures that Alliance Future Surveillance & Control’s next-gen surveillance and control technologies meet the real-world needs of NATO air forces, integrating them into a seamless, interoperable system-of-systems. The leaders of both commands met to discuss how to further leverage cutting-edge technologies to outpace adversaries and maintain NATO’s operational edge. Admiral Pierre VANDIER, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, and the leaders of AIRCOM, discussed the project today. #WeAreNATO #MultiDomainOperations #DigitalTransformation #DefenseInnovation #Interoperability #CyberDefense #MilitaryTech

The Alliance Future Surveillance & Control (AFSC) program is NATO's flagship initiative, driving the digital transformation of tactical operations and enhancing Alliance interoperability. AFSC provides real-time situational awareness across air, land, sea, space, and cyberspace, enabling NATO forces to act with precision and efficiency. I had the honor of witnessing the sharing of information about airspace incidents, responses to them, and their escalation to other Alliance entities. These processes, including operations in cyberspace, are essential for a multi-domain approach and maintaining operational superiority. Keep it up, NATO!
