Everyone knows California, Texas and even Florida have been booming for solar. Recently, I’ve been working in and focused on the the “second tier” as Gavin Maguire calls them: Georgia, Arizona, Virginia, Colorado and Ohio. In a couple of years it’ll be really interesting to see the same breakout distribution of solar in the country updated. UK annual solar deployment has increased from around 730MW in 2021 to 1.7GW in 2023, bringing the 85GW required in the CCC's Balanced Net Zero Pathway within reach. Cumulative community solar installations are forecast to increase from less than 7 GW installed today to more than 14 GW in five years. Wood Mackenzie released a report updating the current market size of community solar in the United States. It forecasts that community solar installed capacity will essentially double in five years. Community solar typically involves a customer subscribing to a portion of an off-site solar facility’s generating capacity, receiving credits on their utility bills for the electricity produced by the facility. Wood Mackenzie forecasts that 7.3 GW of community solar will be installed through 2029, bringing the cumulative total to over 14 GW that year. #Renewables expand to 23% of US electrical generation in 2023, with #solar in the lead https://lnkd.in/eFxkvjdn #EIA’s latest “Electric Power Monthly” (with data through December 31, 2023) reports that the combination of utility-scale and small-scale (e.g., rooftop) solar increased by 16.1% last year. Small-scale solar alone grew by 20.1% – faster than any other energy source. In December alone, small-scale solar increased by 21.4% while total solar grew by 30.7%.
