The way we shop has changed dramatically in recent years because of rapid advancements in technology and shifting customer needs. How the industry responds to that is today's focus at the start of the Institute of Customer Service's #NationalCustomerServiceWeek . Technology has the power to include disabled people and make shopping and leisure more accessible, but it can also exclude if it's not done well. Disabled people have the right to expect websites to be accessible, face to face service to be audible and the removal of other barriers to them being offered good service. Alongside this are potential benefits to all of us. Involving disabled people in the design of services or training is vital to making it work for as many people as possible. It brings an awareness, a 'light bulb moment' that might otherwise be missed by organisations, however well-meaning their intentions. We have a consumer panel of 4,000 disabled people who want to help organisations get it right.
