The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) conducts numerous inspections each year to enhance highway safety. These inspections, including the North American Standard Inspection Program, cover various aspects of drivers and vehicles. Here's a breakdown of the first 2 levels: Level I Inspection: A comprehensive 37-step examination covering driver documents, vehicle components, and safety features. Level II Inspection: A walk-around inspection focusing on driver documents, vehicle components, and safety features that can be assessed without going under the vehicle. These inspections are essential for ensuring compliance and safety on North American highways.

Changes are coming to the state’s Vehicle Safety Inspection Program, and you may be wondering how commercial vehicles will be impacted in 2025. Here’s what you need to know: All commercial vehicles in all counties will still be required to obtain a passing vehicle safety inspection. Because they will be required to pay for that safety inspection, commercial vehicles will be exempt from the inspection program replacement fee. Read more at https://bit.ly/3L779LV.

Physical Damage/Cargo Claims Examiner
1moAs a transportation adjuster I handle a significant number of burn downs annually due to brake related fires. A number of which are from a "run flat" that wraps wire from the disintegrating inside tandem wrapping around the slack adjuster dragging the brake and super heating the brake drum. Brake inspection on every pre-trip should also include tire inspection, especially when running re-caps on trailers. Most drivers today don't know what the travel length is on slack adjuster nor what the minimum shoe thickness is on a drum brake shoe. Safety managers having driver education classes for drivers on basic maintenance of the equipment can save them the loss of equipment and cargo as well as the cost of property damage claims for repair of the pavement when the fire department is miles away and the pave sustains severe damage.
