Tennant Minerals has completed a very successful, oversubscribed, capital raising to sophisticated and professional investors to raise $4.8 million (before costs) to fund key drilling programs and development studies at the Barkly Project, 40km east of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Drilling will be focused on expanding and defining the Bluebird high-grade #copper-#gold discovery as well as testing other high-priority targets within the 2.5km long Bluebird- Perseverance corridor and on the Babbler project to the south. Drilling is set to commence in a matter of weeks as weather conditions in the Northern Territory improve. Tennant Minerals CEO, Vincent Algar commented: “The new funding will allow us to commence a substantial drilling program as soon as possible. “Our objective is to identify multiple, multi-million tonne, copper-gold deposits within the 100% Tennant owned Barkly Tenements and establish a resource base to support a stand-alone mining and processing operation.” Read full #ASX announcement here: https://bit.ly/3xuwmMP #ASXNews #TMS #Exploration #Drilling

I would rather say, all mining activities. The land needs to breathe and recover. As relevant as the mining sector is to the growth of the economy, if it is causing greater harm than good, then it should be revised!. Forest reserves, farm lands and water bodies should be kept with jealousy. Ghana is all we have! If the sea can rest from fishing activities from July to August, why can’t the land? I believe Ghana has many intellectuals. We’re a learned community. We most certainly can sit and discuss ways to keep the environment safe as well as exploiting nature’s abundant riches. The gold is not going anywhere, the land and water is!! Should we wait till we’re importing water? Already 1 Sachet of water is 50ps. Let the land breathe!

Reflecting on the recent launch of Pan African Resource’s R2,5b, world class surface remining operation: Mogale Tailings Retreatment. The conversations that have stuck with me revolve around the commitment, and dare I say ‘Pride’, with regards to the safety of everyone involved in delivering this Masterstroke of South African Gold Mining Investment. Arriving early as I like to do; I was escorted around the plant by Gideon Ramabu. I was commenting on how impressive the plant was looking and expressing my amazement at how quickly it had been developed and how much of a positive contribution the operation will make to all stakeholders etc etc. when Gideon politely but enthusiastically interrupted me by saying: “Yeah Jim, that’s all great and basically par for the course, but you wanna know what’s even more impressive and I’m most proud of?” ME: Ok, go on then. GIDEON: The fact that more than one-and-a-half-million person hours have been spent in the construction without a single injury. We’ve literally had zero LTI’s. Gideon continued to break down some of the safety stats to me and I could clearly see how much this meant to him. In the speeches later on, George Corlett, presented the same stats with the same enthusiasm to the invited guests and it produced the loudest applause of the day. It’s a consistent theme whenever I have the opportunity to speak to the EXEC team at Pan African Resources. Mining is complex and can be dangerous, but zero-harm is non-negotiable for sustainable mining. #goldmining #miningforafuture #sustainablemining #panafricanresources #mininginnovation #SafetyFirst #ProjectSuccess #MiningSafety #ZeroInjuries

Australia's mining sector has long relied on a 'learning by doing' strategy, but is it costing us our environment? This insightful piece authored by Griffith University’s Professor Matthew Currell and Flinders University’s Professor Adrian Werner, explores the environmental impacts of our large-scale mining operations and questions the effectiveness of our current approach. #Mining #Environment #Sustainability #EnvironmentalEngineering #GriffithUniveristy @Griffith Sciences https://lnkd.in/dAhsnJng

"Many (states) are calling for a moratorium or precautionary pause on deep-sea mining until we have the science needed to inform a robust evidence-based regulatory framework that protects ocean ecosystems from harm," said Julian Jackson, seabed mining project director at The Pew Charitable Trusts. At the close of #ISA29 in Kingston, Jamaica, the International Seabed Authority elected Leticia Carvalho of Brazil as its next Secretary-General. Her four-year term leading the United Nations-mandated body that regulates sea-floor mining begins in 2025. Amidst growing calls to pause deep-sea mining, it’s crucial that the new SG remains neutral, prioritizes sustainability, and takes decisive action to #ProtectOurOcean and #BanDeepSeaMining 🌊 ✊🏾 #MoanaMonday #StopOceanCrime #DefendTheDeep #ProtectOurOcean #ISA2024 #ISA29thSession #OurOceanIsNotForSale Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gTDq7Meb.

Mines operate for a finite period, which means our purpose of creating value and improving lives through sustainable and responsible mining goes far beyond a mine’s operating life. To ensure we leave a positive legacy for the communities and the environment where we operate, Newmont has an executive-level Closure Steering Committee, a robust global Closure Strategy and sets annual reclamation targets. In 2023, Newmont set a target to complete at least 143 hectares of concurrent reclamation across our operations. Nine of our 12 operating sites met or exceeded their reclamation activity targets during the year, allowing us to surpass our target and reclaim an additional 22 hectares! 🎉 This achievement is a testament to our collective commitment to responsible mining and environmental stewardship. Led by the UN Environment Programme, #WorldEnvironmentDay is a global initiative that brings together millions of people to raise awareness and influence environmental action. What are you doing to be part of #GenerationRestoration? Let us know in the comments below ⬇️ #Newmont #NewmontMoreThanGold #Reclamation #ResponsibleMining
