Recruiting Career Field Manager | Talent Acquisition Analyst & Strategist | Workforce Planner | Last day in uniform June 1, 2025
Military Recruiting 101 (It will always be difficult) Why? Because you must overcome perspective and bias numerous times for each person. Concerns, misunderstandings and potential miscommunications are a constant. The real test comes with the ask if they are ready to committment. Military Recruiters work hard to find those who are qualified and inspire them to serve. They offer Honor of Service to Country. But the ask, many times, is too much for most to readily commit too. They are asking for Commitment and Sacrifice. No matter how hard leaders work to make recruiting efforts more efficient and steady, it will always boil down to the person in uniform having those engaging conversations and be willing to make the ask. (This does not discount the need for efficiency). Thanks for all you do Military Recruiters! United States Air Force #militaryrecruiting101

Coffee reflections this morning… 💡Collaboration is key for strong pathways to exist in military affiliated employment initiatives. No man is an island, and no one company or organization can make it all happen for everyone. People are different and each individual needs to identify their own path. 💡 Educating TSMs on civilian workforce processes and terminology is vital for successful transitions, which can only exist through strong collaborations. (Thank you for your post today, Joel Martycz, which brought this to light). 💡 You don’t know what you don’t know. Ask questions of trusted orofessionals, heed advice from individuals who have successfully done what you are looking to do, and stay humble throughout the process. 💡 This new hat from Dobbs Equipment, LLC is the bee’s knees. #coffeethoughts #transitioningservicemembers #militaryspouses #veteransemployment #militarydependents #feedandsheltertheworld #strongpathways

"Nearly all military spouses we interviewed said they worked part time because they were the primary caregivers for their children. They said they needed flexible jobs with reduced hours because their service member spouse was not consistently or predictably able to contribute to child care. For example, one military spouse noted that her husband’s rotating schedule changed every few months, and it was difficult to find an employer that would grant her that much flexibility. Similarly, many military spouses noted that when the service member was on duty, the military spouse needed to frequently function as a single parent" The DoD requirement for military spouses to be employed full-time or in school full-time to receive childcare fee assistance assumes that they are not actively contributing a substantial amount of their time and energy into mission readiness. The common argument I hear behind not offering the fee assistance directly to the families to utilize as needed for their unique needs is based on the idea that the spouse may not be working full-time and will use it for things outside of traditional childcare. This argument completely misses that all military family members serve the mission, sacrifice, and work for free to ensure the Service Members can fulfill the duty they signed up for. It is time we trust families and let them decide what works best for them.
