Its spring time around the corner. Snowdrops are already brightening the landscape and soon daffodils will be coming through. It makes you start to think ahead to Easter. If you are responsible for events and the infrastructure required to support increased visitor numbers, then providing sufficient car parking capacity might be high on your agenda. Expanding on existing parking and providing overflow car parking, like this grass reinforcement product, CellPave AP, might just be the answer to the challenge of increasing parking without major structural change. There is still plenty of time to put this in place before Easter. Over the next few weeks we are going to be delivering more that 24 artic loads (50,000m2+) to customers who are ahead of the curve! groundtrax.com #eventmanagement #nationaltrust #infrastructure #englishheritage #visitormanagement #parking

I would happily bike or scoot in any major Florida downtown before Dallas Tx. Downtown Dallas has a lot of broken concrete and asphalt ROW that could easily be transformed into a great #multimodal network. Yes Florida is Dangerously by Design and leads in places with high bicycle and pedestrian fatalities. However, some of it maybe due to the fact people can actually walk, bicycle and scoot in Florida. Dan Burden set #FDOT on a path towards complete streets. Billy Hattaway, PE, MBA, RSP1 advanced complete streets in Florida at a statewide level. Local governments, MPO’s and FDOT continue to strive to make Florida’s streets safer. Traveling to places like Dallas and LA reminds me how far ahead Florida is with implementing complete streets. We still have a long way to go. You at least have the choice in many Florida communities to walk, bicycle and scoot. Most other places in the U.S. don’t have great networks. Dallas has some cool places to see, but riding a bicycle or scooting is not for the faint of heart. Stay safe NUE Urban Concepts, LLC #multimodal #mobility #completestreets #bicycle #scoot

🌉 Do you remember when Fern Hollow Bridge collapsed in #Pittsburgh? Thankfully, no one died on that snowy January morning, but the event quickly sparked headlines and a visit from President Biden. In the wake of the infamous event, city planners were suddenly on a tight timeline to rebuild the bridge, which had served as a critical connector between neighborhoods, stretching through one of the city's popular parks. Meanwhile, insufficient walking and #biking infrastructure leading to the bridge had created dangerous conditions for non-motorists, and planners hoped to take this opportunity to not only rebuild the bridge, but improve #RoadSafety for everyone who would use it. See how City of Pittsburgh rebuilt a new and improved Fern Hollow Bridge in under 1 year with big data analytics that accelerated traffic analysis. #transportation #TransportationPlanning #bridges https://lnkd.in/gt7ECP8N

🎙️ Are you curious about how Kirkwood is working to make our streets safer for everyone? Pedestrian and cyclist safety is a top priority for the City, and through the Vision Zero Action Plan, we're committed to reducing traffic-related deaths and serious injuries on our streets. In a recent interview with KMOX, Jonathan Raiche, Kirkwood's Planning & Development Services Director, shared insightful details about the steps we're taking to reach this goal and the critical role community input plays in shaping these changes. The Vision Zero Action Plan is a comprehensive effort designed to prioritize safety through smart urban planning, improved infrastructure, and data-driven decisions. At its core, it’s about creating a safer environment for all—whether you're walking to a local park, biking to work, or simply crossing the street. One of the key elements of this initiative is community involvement. By actively seeking input from Kirkwood residents, we’re able to understand local safety concerns and directly address them. Jonathan discusses how feedback from the community is helping to identify high-risk areas and ensure that the implemented changes reflect the needs and experiences of those who use our streets every day. By listening to the voices of residents and collaborating on solutions, the Vision Zero plan is shaping the future of Kirkwood’s streets. This is more than just a policy—it's a long-term vision that requires commitment from all of us to ensure safer, more accessible roads for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike. If you’re interested in hearing more about how Kirkwood is planning for a safer future, make sure to listen to the full interview. It's an informative discussion that highlights the City's proactive approach to enhancing safety across the community. 🔗 Listen to the interview here: https://lnkd.in/g6mjkWRB To learn more about Kirkwood's Vision Zero Action Plan, visit the City's Streets are for Everyone webpage at https://lnkd.in/gv9YETMi and click on the arrow to the right of the tab titled Vision Zero. We’re excited to announce the arrival of a state-of-the-art fleet of fire trucks, part of an $18.6 million investment to protect our growing communities. Our new additions include: 🏢 Specialist vehicles with higher ladders to reach city and suburban high-rises. 🔥 Cutting-edge thermal imaging technology and live-streaming capabilities to identify hotspots and track fire suppression in real-time. 🚒 New trucks that can stretch up to 32 metres and even expand out 22 metres, helping our firefighters to access challenging areas. With buildings getting taller, these advanced vehicles will allow us to respond more effectively to the needs of our communities. With new fire stations in Oran Park and Busby, and 20 trucks already rolled out to key stations like Penrith, Smithfield, St. Mary’s, Huntingwood, Mascot, and Rosemeadow, we are proud to say that our firefighters and the people of NSW are better protected than ever before. #CommunitySafety #ProtectingCommunities #InnovationInAction

What do we mean when we talk about protected bike and hike paths? Road users have seen bike lanes painted on the outside edge of a street. While it is nice that city planners are designating space specifically for cyclists, a piece of paint isn’t going to protect a bicyclist from an errant or distracted driver. In the video, an Associate Deputy Commissioner for New York City’s Department of Transportation discusses the efforts made across the city to protect cyclists from traffic. This is important because as cycle paths become safer, more people are willing to use them. Parents will take their children on those pathways. People will use them to run quick errands. People will use protected bike paths for commuting to their jobs. People will use protected pathways for recreation. By making the safe decision to protect vulnerable road users, roads become more usable to a greater portion of the population - we the people.
