Play is not just instinctive but intrinsic and significantly imperative as a means to understand the world around us as human beings. The language of Play...▶️ is globally recognised to how we learn... whether it be to help, be helped or to have been hindered. Within Play...▶️ we can find a place for coexistence with regulation, co-regulation, regard, respect, responsibility and reconciliation. It allows and extends the platform for human behaviour to be able to experience exploration and research of the self from any age, gender, ability and culture which undoubtedly leads us to how we made sense of the world we lived in, live in presently... and also prepare for living in the future. It is one of those keys...🗝️ to our survival instincts and existence.
Playing Out got a shoutout in this article calling for the new Government to support outdoor play: "Charities including Playing Out and Opal do what they can, but lack clout and resources. A report by MPs on children and the built environment was almost finished when the election was called; now, there is no guarantee that it will ever be published. The attitude of the last government can be gathered from the fact that the children’s minister, David Johnston, declined to give evidence...Yes, play is instinctive, but the new government must move beyond the complacent assumption that children can reap its benefits in the absence of any public policy at all." Let's hope they're listening! https://lnkd.in/eza6F34w

It has been so exciting to watch the world’s Paralympic athletes compete in Paris. Their path to representing their countries in the sports they love is even more difficult than many of us can appreciate. Compared to children who do not identify as having a disability, children with a disability are far more likely to be restricted by the cost of sport, they are far more likely to believe they are not good enough to play and they are far more likely to feel unwelcome in sport spaces. These are only some of the reasons why we need to continue eliminating the barriers to sport participation for children of all abilities. Play is a fundamental human need, shaping our development from the earliest days. From swings to slides, the playground offers our first taste of socialization and fun. Despite bumps and bruises, we persevere, finding joy in the company of others—turning strangers into playmates, classmates into lifelong friends, and sometimes even partners. Yet, for some, accessibility and inclusivity remain elusive. In our discovery session, Stacy shared a profound insight that resonated deeply with us: 'Accessibility alone falls short; true inclusivity is our aim.' This simple yet profound statement encapsulates the mission of the Inclusive Play Project (IPP)—to ensure that 'fun' is accessible to everyone, without exceptions. Our 5-week collaboration with IPP has been immensely rewarding, contributing to the vision of building Kingston’s first Inclusive Playground. 'The essence of play transcends ability or disability; it’s a universal aspect of the human experience. Regardless of how we navigate the world, we all seek joy and connection through play. Let’s ensure everyone has equal access to this fundamental source of human connection and growth.' Posted are snippets of our work for IPP. Collaborated with Angelica and Ruby Developed the IMC plan under the guidance of Jessica, Scott, Rizma, and Darren Benefitted from the invaluable insights of Marci and Stacy Together, we've taken a holistic approach, integrating digital improvements and offline activities to further the cause of inclusivity in play. Thanks to our donors, we have shipped a care package of multicultural crayons to the DJ DEMP Foundation in Tallahassee, Florida. These crayons will be included in backpacks that will be given to at-risk youths which will be stuffed with all of the general school supplies each child needs. The DJ DEMP Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization based in Tallahassee, Florida. The DJ DEMP Foundation was founded in 1997 by DJ DEMP. DJ DEMP is an international celebrity DJ, with a career spanning over 25 years. It is their mission to improve outcomes for at-risk youth and young adults through education, mentorship, skills training, and access to community-based resources and support. They work to eliminate barriers that limit opportunities. The foundation's anti-bullying program focuses on eradicating bullying, ridiculing, teasing, and harassment in school. Bullying has a serious and lasting negative effects on the mental health and overall well-being of youth. They work to combat the negative impact of bullying through social-emotional learning. They use music to address social issues. Music gives students a unique opportunity to express themselves creatively and build confidence. Music improves cognitive and non-cognitive skills and helps develop language skills in children. The foundation's workshops help kids improve memorization, and develop language and reasoning skills. They also help children build a better self image and provide a safe space for self expression and creativity. The DJ Demp Foundation believes that community engagement plays a vital role in its success. They hold that leaders should be the voice of the people they serve. Thanks to strong community relationships and intimate knowledge of the local community, the foundation better understands the needs of the people and the best way to serve them. Instead of focusing on growth and expanding programs, their focus is on investing in our organizations' core infrastructure, organizational growth and leadership. *Encouraging Generosity in Your Children 💖* As parents, you all aspire to nurture generosity in your children, but sometimes, you may wonder how to instill this virtue effectively. The truth is, your kids are inherently wired to be giving, and with the right guidance, you can inspire them to embrace kindness wholeheartedly. Here are some actionable ways to inspire your kids to be generous: *Set a good example:* Children are more likely to engage in acts of generosity if they see their parents volunteering and giving back to the community. Engage in volunteer activities as a family and have open conversations with your kids about the importance of giving. *Help them understand others' needs:* Encourage your children to empathize with others by helping them see the world through their eyes. When they understand the impact of their actions on those in need, they become more committed to making a difference. *Show them the impact of their generosity:* Help your kids recognize how their acts of kindness make a tangible difference in the lives of others. When they witness the positive impact of their generosity, they are more inclined to continue giving. *Make giving a part of everyday life:* Encourage your children to incorporate acts of kindness into their daily routines. Whether it's sharing their talents, offering a helping hand, or expressing gratitude, small gestures can have a significant impact on others. *Let them decide how to give:* Empower your kids to choose how they want to help others. When they have autonomy over their acts of generosity, they experience greater satisfaction and happiness. Avoid pressuring them into giving, as it may dampen their enthusiasm. At DiYES International School, we believe in nurturing compassionate individuals who understand the importance of giving back to society.
