We challenged the Tories’ onshore wind ban, and now with Labour’s commitment to end it, we're keeping our fingers crossed that the renewable energy revolution takes off! 🚀 🤞
Make sure they build the onshore plants in London etc. They can destroy that city to erect wind turbines, same way they have destroyed the countryside.
I agree with Paul Hasney, governments have been wrong before and got voted out. Have you asked the population (ie the people) if they agree with the lobbiests and want onshore windfarms??? I wish all these self righteous people would wake up and STOP assuming the general public are idiots who need to be told what they want 😡
On this week's episode of Ours to Protect, I spoke to Pat Keating, CEO of Shannon Foynes Port to learn about the plans to develop the Atlantic floating offshore wind industry.
With the largest wind resource in Europe off the west coast, the estuary plans to become a global renewable energy hub over the coming decades.
The episode examines how the plans will play a vital role in decarbonising Europe, while also transforming the Midwest region.

Want to learn what may be on the Oregon offshore horizon? (And, as you will learn, literally far enough offshore that it’s barely visible from the seashore.)
Oregon offshore wind development reached a milestone this month. In this update, my co-authors Laura Smith Morton, Ryan Thomas, and I dig into the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's recent announcement designating final Wind Energy Areas (WEAs) for leasing and development of floating #offshorewind projects off the coast of Oregon; major revisions to the WEAs from draft to final (e.g., NOAA scientific surveys); and challenges that will confront floating wind projects on the West Coast, including the need for #transmission and #port infrastructure upgrades.
BOEM also published its Notice of Intent (NOI) to develop an environmental assessment (EA) regarding potential environmental impacts associated with leasing and site assessment studies in the WEAs. Comments on the NOI on the EA are due by March 15th.

💨 Have you heard of Seagreen, Scotland's largest offshore wind farm? Located 27 km off the coast of Angus, the Seagreen offshore wind farm has been generating clean electricity since August 2022, with all 114 turbines now fully operational since October 2023.
🏘 This project goes beyond numbers - it signifies a significant impact. With enough energy to power over 1.6 million homes, equivalent to two-thirds of all Scottish households. Additionally, the electricity generated will prevent the emission of over 2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
💡But that's not all - Seagreen is not just Scotland's largest offshore wind farm, it's also the world's deepest fixed-bottom wind farm!
