From rescuing food from retailers to advocating for policy change, every action brings us one step closer to ending hunger in New York State. I live in Arlington, Virginia. It’s a place that's rich in diversity, food, and greenery. It’s also affected by food insecurity, with more than 23,000 people (nearly 10% of the population) not having access to enough food for an active, healthy life. These are just some of the eye-opening facts released this week as part of Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap Study (https://lnkd.in/ep7JimvB) —an annual, comprehensive view of how food insecurity varies across the U.S. As the only national study to provide county-level estimates of food insecurity and food costs, this study is a powerful tool for all of us to use to better understand hunger in our communities. It shows that food insecurity exists in every county, parish and congressional district in this nation, but it isn’t experienced equally. Food insecurity levels vary across regions, influenced by factors like unemployment and poverty rates as well as policies and practices rooted in history that continue to hold people back today. I encourage you to learn about the impact of hunger in your community. Spark conversations around the systemic factors that drive food insecurity then join the movement to end hunger (https://lnkd.in/enR6y7VC). Help us create a future where we all have access to the food and resources we need to thrive. #EndHunger

🥬 Hunger Action Month is a great time to learn about hunger and its root causes, spread awareness and inspire people to take world-changing action. At Oregon Food Bank, we believe food is a human right because we need food to live. We all have the right to food that is unrestricted, culturally-relevant, nourishing, dignified and fear-free. When we recognize food as a human right, we commit to providing for all families. Help us amplify the message that food is a human right and vital for our communities: FoodForAllOR.org/Pledge.

🔔 ICYMI: 🧡 “September marks Hunger Action Month, and today, we also pay tribute to the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. 🇺🇸 Hunger is a year-round challenge, but this month and this day serve as a reminder to come together and make a difference. Millions of people across the country, including families and children, face food insecurity every day. After the September 11th attacks, David Paine and Jay Winuk—who lost his brother Glenn, a volunteer firefighter—sought to redefine this day by making it one of service. What started as a simple idea has grown into the largest day of service in America, with over 30 million people dedicating their time to help others each year. At Ridiculous Engineering, we’ve committed to service by raising awareness about hunger and supporting the millions of families facing food insecurity. Today, as we reflect on the significance of this movement, we encourage everyone to get involved. Together, we can fight hunger and foster a spirit of service and unity that extends beyond this day. 🌎🍽️ #HungerActionMonth #EndHunger #SocialImpact #RidiculousEngineering #FedsFeedFamilies https://lnkd.in/ez7VKk27

We’re going big to make hunger history. We’re working on a big, bold moonshot goal to cut hunger in half for all Minnesotans by 2030. New knowledge and partnerships have led us to a defining moment in the fight against hunger. We need bold new solutions, stronger connections, and a way to clearly measure our progress so we can understand what’s working. It’s time to get to work. With the help of the whole community including our corporate partners Cargill and Target, we’ll reduce hunger today by increasing access to emergency food, prevent hunger tomorrow with policy, partnerships and one-on-one services, and track progress to ensure we’re effective and accountable.
