Rejection only becomes real when you hear a definitive 'no.' Hustle Fund's fundraising journey exemplifies this idea. Eric Bahn, one of the founders, reached out to an investor 12 times without a response. However, on the 13th attempt, the investor finally replied and ended up committing half a million dollars to Hustle Fund. This story underscores the importance of persistence. Many people, myself included, might have given up after 3 or 4 follow-ups. Yet, it serves as a powerful reminder to keep pushing until you receive a definitive "no." Some great tips from exited founders / angel investors from the Helm Investment Day on raising seed funding!

As a seasoned angel investor, I've been on both sides of the fundraising table and have seen firsthand the highs and lows of this crucial startup phase. First off, the excitement of getting meetings with VCs or Angel investors can be intoxicating. It feels like validation, right? The reality, though, is a bit more sobering. These VCs or Angels meet with hundreds, sometimes thousands, of founders annually. Your brilliant idea is, to them, one of many at the outset. Here's something I've observed: the wait after each pitch can be excruciating. You might have heard the saying that it takes talking to about 50 VCs to land a single investment. There's truth in that, depending on the allure of your idea. At the pre-seed stage, remember, you're selling not just an idea but a vision—a dream, essentially. It demands not just your intellect but your passion and energy in every pitch. Now, having moved to the second stage with a few potential investors, the anticipation of their decisions is a test of patience and resolve. But remember, this is just the beginning. My advice? Brace yourself for a marathon. The path to securing funding is rarely a sprint. It requires resilience, unwavering belief in your vision, and the readiness to give every pitch your all—because your brand, your dream, deserves to see the light of day. To all the founders starting on this journey, keep your spirits high and your focus sharp. The right investors, those who believe in your dream as much as you do, are out there.
