Each year AOLC selects one beneficiary to help raise money for them through an art-centric event. I just learned that today is National Single Parent Day - a day dedicated to recognizing the extraordinary efforts of single parents everywhere. I can quite literally think of no more demanding, relentless, all-encompassing experience than single parenting. GIVING BACK IN 2024....ALREADY STARTED Earlier this week I mentioned that I wanted to focus on giving back and taking what Tim Tebow said, to heart. In fact, looking back on it, it seems all of my posts, this week, have been around this theme in some way If you've read my posts over the years you know I am a fan of "action". No matter how small. So, in the spirit of practicing what I preach, I set out to take action. Recently I volunteered at Operation Christmas Child her in Charlotte. From 7-10pm on a Saturday night, my family and I spent time packing boxes and sending out donated gifts to children in less privileged areas of the world. By the way, I left that warehouse, just after 10pm, completely energized and more appreciative than I'd been in a long time. I've also had a very good year, financially. My family and I decided to give to a number of charities and have identified others that we will give to over the Christmas holiday. For some of my family members, we've agreed that instead of giving each other gifts, we will donate in each other's names, to charities that have impacted our lives, or the lives of loved ones, in some way. One more...I can't say too much about it just yet, but in January, I will start to give back through one of my biggest commitments, personally, that I've ever take on. More to come, on this one! I don't share this to brag...I hope it isn't taken that way. I share this in the name of accountability. I've always believed that when we voice things to others that they become "real". So, I am putting myself out there to share progress towards this goal of mine. Here's how it works: 🔹 Ongoing Support: Our dedicated outreach worker is there to provide continued guidance and encouragement. 🔹 Connection to Community Resources: Our knowledgeable team is constantly building connections with community resources to best serve the women in our Aftercare program. 🔹 Counseling Services: Access professional support for any ongoing challenges. 🔹 Tangible Supports: Through generous donations from community members, we are able to provide women in our Aftercare program with donated items to help support their new home.
