There's another Independence Day that we celebrate: July 26th. Thirty-four years ago, a second Independence Day was established on July 26. National Disability Independence Day celebrates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which expands the rights and prohibits discrimination of the disabled community. Even with the passing of the ADA, many people with disabilities still experience tremendous barriers to employment. Enter Goodwill. At Goodwill of Greater Washington, more than 250 team members have a disability. They are provided competitive wages, access to health and retirement benefits, a Caring Fund to address emergency needs, as well as RISE Coaches to help them navigate resources and systems to remove barriers to achieving success at work and beyond! In honor of National Disability Independence Day, please support Goodwill’s life-changing programs by making a one-time or recurring donation. This will give more neighbors with disabilities the freedom and independence to improve their lives. The underemployment rate for young adults with disabilities is about 80%. These adults are so limited in the opportunities that are afforded to them, yet they have so much to offer the world if they are given a chance. The opportunity to work and earn a paycheck affords disabled adults the independence and feeling of accomplishment that we all crave. That's why bringing awareness to Disability Employment Awareness Month is so important in October, and all year round. We need to create a more inclusive and accessible world where disabled adults are given the chance to contribute. Where they can be seen, heard, and valued. And where they can participate in society, just like their non-disabled peers. Our mission as a nonprofit is to provide adults with disabilities meaningful, paid employment, and we know there are so many businesses and organizations out there doing similar work. This month, please support organizations like ours and help spread the word about why creating an inclusive workforce matters. If you're compelled to make a difference with us this month, we are grateful for donations of any amount that help further our mission. Thank you for championing inclusivity! https://lnkd.in/gFUcipJy #disabilityemployment #workplaceinclusion #supportnonprofits #inclusivitymatters #nonprofitorg

For those who don't yet know, I've been selling merch (featuring quotes) for nearly a year: https://lnkd.in/gcWGyCKJ I only decided to sell merch because I figured that I could spread encouragement, motivation, and positivity for Disability Awareness/Acceptance, while introducing my SM platforms to more people, where I post daily about Autism/Disability Acceptance/Encouragements. (Always open to ideas.) However, I never thought I'd say this in my life (as I care more about helping and encouraging everybody), there is an option on the website to donate. It will mainly go toward the spread of Disability Acceptance and Inclusion. Reason why I'm asking is because I never ask for remuneration for my volunteer assemblies, my tuition was costly, and PR/advertisements are extraordinarily expensive that I ran out of my budget (currently), but I'm willing to do whatever for 8,000,000,000 people to get along with each other and believe in themselves and their purpose, disability or not. Unfortunately, I have to post this now, if you'd like to see a more rapid spread of Autism/Disability Acceptance, especially if anybody appreciates the work that I do with my books, interviews, and social media platforms. Anyway, it's your choice, but as always, I'm never asking. Have a great rest of your weekend. #autism #disability #disabilities #autismawareness #autismacceptance #autisminclusion #awareness #acceptance #appreciation #inclusion #inclusive #inclusionmatters #merch #donate #donation #celebratedifferences

Fantastic article proving that diversity in leadership is vital for effective organisations. If you’re asking “Why can’t I be a leader?” Then you probably can and perhaps CO3 Chief Officers 3rd Sector can help you along the path. #EmpoweringLeadersDrivingChange

I am looking for benefactors, and open-minded people, who are willing and able to invest in disabled people. This non-profit is about disabled people realising and understanding their true worth and what THEY can and DO contribute to society despite the world's perceived perceptions, assumptions and paradigms of disability. This non-profit/community-interest company supports, sponsors, and encourages disabled people to transform their lives in ALL areas through the application of personal development, coaching, and mentoring courses. Every donation is important, significant, and received with gratitude because it shows those in the disabled community that they are not alone and facilitates the kind of support disabled people are crying out for: the ability to have some agency and control over their lives and over their outcomes and results. We all know God is money in action and that money should be in flow all the time. This charity is all about - enabling those stuck in their lives because of a limiting disability, be it physical or intellectual, to be sponsored to be enrolled and participate in personal development courses. This charity is for disabled people who want to be coached and mentored to transform their lives through the choices THEY make. As a charity, I want AIMS to support lifelong disabled people, disabled veterans, and people who have become disabled later in life to access the material that personal development offers via multiple sources and companies like NHI, The Napoleon Hill Institute, The Napoleon Hill Institute Coaches, The Napoleon Hill Foundation, and other coaches from other companies, basically anyone who will be the right fit for the sponsored client and vice versa. Initially, to get the charity started and for AIMS - Life Coaching for Disabled People (Non-profit) to have authentic and genuine testimonials from clients, I want to find out who would like to help me sponsor the first 3 disabled clients to attend and go through the NHI Self-confidence camp, and some one-to-one coaching with me via the charity? It's through Napoleon's principles that this charity will work. We cannot expect to receive, if we don't expect to GIVE first. I want ALL my coaching and mentor friends and their companies to benefit from the charity, not only by being paid by the charity but by serving the clients who are given to them via sponsorship - does that make sense? (If it does, I feel I would be receiving more donations to help get my first sponsored enrolled.) How amazing would it be in a couple of months' time to see the testimonials from at least three people and how they have transformed their lives and benefited through this personal development course, knowing that you have been a part of implementing that? The Aims for Life- Coaching for Disabled People, Charity Fundraiser: https://gofund.me/7303e101. Please do help if you can. Let's make a difference for disabled people.

It’s 2024, and it’s disheartening to see that major sites are still not accessible to people with disabilities. This is not just about compliance, it’s about inclusivity and equality. When writing content, it’s crucial to ensure it’s accessible to everyone. Here are a few tips that have really helped me: Keep the language simple: Use clear and simple language. This makes your content accessible to people with cognitive impairments and learning disabilities. Structure: Give the document a meaningful title. Keep sentences and paragraphs short. Aim for around 25 words or less per sentence. Formatting: Use a sans serif font like Arial or Helvetica. Use a minimum size of 12 points. Make sure the text is left aligned, not justified. Avoid underlining, except for links. For more information on this topic, I recommend visiting the Scope UK website, a disability equality charity in England and Wales that provides practical information and emotional support. Let’s all do our part to make the web a more inclusive space. #Accessibility #Inclusivity #WebAccessibility #DisabilityRights

A note from Smile Farms Inc. founder and chairman, Jim McCann ✉️ Have you ever sat down to think about why work is important? I mean really sit and think about it. The answers are the same for everyone: Besides income, a job teaches us new skills, offers lessons in responsibility, and helps us build relationships beyond family and immediate friends. Meaningful work is key to living a life of dignity. ➡️ That’s why in 2015, my family and I helped start Smile Farms, a non-profit organization that provides educational, vocational, and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. For us, it’s personal. Growing up, I was blessed to live in a family with five brothers and sisters. The greatest blessing of all was Kevin, who was born with a developmental disability and taught me and my siblings countless lessons about life, relationships, and how to treat people different from ourselves. My parents made sure that Kevin was included in all family activities and had as many opportunities as possible. I often think about my parents and how they were kept awake at night wondering what would happen to Kevin after they were gone. Well, they sure would be proud of him today. He lives with friends in a supportive home near our family on Long Island, attends all family activities, works at Smile Farms as a Grower, and uses his paycheck to buy all manner of clothes and accessories that make up his signature style. I wish my parents could see him today - full of confidence and cracking jokes. But most of all, I wish Mom and Dad could see how they and Kevin inspired the whole family to do what we can to help people of all abilities lead happy and meaningful lives. Federal data does show that people with disabilities are landing jobs at a faster pace than in the past. While that’s encouraging, there’s still more work to be done to ensure that the 54 million Americans with disabilities can fully tap their potential. Help us to help more people with disabilities find meaningful employment. When you give to Smile Farms, you’re contributing to more than just a paycheck. You are giving the gift of hope, the gift of independence, the gift of pride in oneself. https://lnkd.in/du5esic #NonProfit #DisabilityEmployment #DisabilityInclusion
