Here’s what it looks like to #justsayyes! 🤩 First, think about who you know and who would be a great fit for our program. Once you identify your lead, submit their name and email address to beamentor@aacmentors.org and the AAC Recruitment team will make initial contact. After, the lead that YOU provided will #justsayyes--committing to mentoring one (or more) classroom(s) for one hour, once a month. ***Note: We need 5-8 volunteers per classroom. If your lead ends up having more than that, not a problem at all! They can consider making two teams and doubling their impact!*** Once they've committed, we're set! 25+ more students in the Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky area will receive career and life skills mentorship. Join us as an esteemed speaker at the flagship conference for CTE professionals: ACTE's CareerTech VISION 2024, happening Dec. 4–7 in San Antonio, Texas. Believe to Achieve 📌 Week 5 Reflections 📚 As the Principal of an A-rated elementary school and a seasoned systems leader, I guide IDEA Achieve Academy with clarity and purpose. This week, we focused on the adage: "When everything is a priority, nothing is a priority." Our diligent approach emphasized: 🎯 Building Relationships: Nurturing trust and understanding within our school family. 🎯 Systems, Routines, and Procedures: Perfecting classroom entry and exit techniques through practice and reset. 🎯 Normed Clear Rationale: Ensuring a coherent reason behind everything we do. Our teachers infused joy into the learning environment with team-building activities. By Day 3, we fine-tuned our Carline (Student Pick Up procedure for over 600 elementary students) to an efficient 25 minutes. Transitions were seamless, maximizing instructional time. Here's what made our week stand out: Teamwork and Support: We leaned on each other's strengths and a culture of mutual support. Prioritization: By focusing on essential aspects, we avoided the pitfall of unfulfillment that plagues schools trying to prioritize EVERYTHING in week 1. Celebrating Wins: Acknowledging and rejoicing in our successes kept us motivated. Trust the process, stick to your priorities, and celebrate your wins. Coaching leaders requires our team to hear spaces for growth and respond with direct redirection to challenge beliefs based on the values and principles the leaders have identified. During a coaching session, we were discussing the importance of team contributions and how to foster belonging. It was important to recenter leaders back to dismantling the belief that we are the only ones who know best and prioritize the value in taking a load off of liters to make all the decisions. ❗️Teachers have a voice. ❗️Teachers add value. And they should be able to exercise their voice and value in ways that are authentic and genuine to their character. It requires leaders that are willing to delegate responsibility and hear the genius that is actually a part of their team that they lead. This means that when contributions are given, we don’t decide necessarily what is valuable enough, but we collaborate to determine how contributions can be used or shaped to reach the goal of the team. This work is sometimes challenging for those who are in the belief system that their leadership role dictates their position to determine value for the team and move them back to the values they have as a leader and as a team to get the job done. This type of belonging fosters group responsibility and accountability that removes the overwhelming sense of responsibility primarily off the leader and spreads the power around. For the 3rd year in a row, parent-school communication has made it into the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) State of EdTech District Leadership report as a technology priority. According to the report, over the past two years, 73% of districts made changes to their parental engagement practices by increasing the frequency of communications and expanding the number of communication channels they use. 24% provide more detailed information regarding student performance 23% provide more opportunities for two-way parent/teacher conversations 21% provide more detailed information regarding student performance
