Highly recommend the latest special issue of the journal Health Equity titled “Special Collection: Race in Clinical Algorithms.” (Issue editorial: https://lnkd.in/gUg6yFJR) In our article for this issue, my co-authors and I discuss four case studies at VA, the largest integrated health care system in the U.S., and steps, successes, and challenges in identifying, addressing, mitigating/eliminating algorithmic bias. We hope other healthcare systems can learn from this discussion for their own health equity journeys: “Eliminating Algorithmic Racial Bias in Clinical Decision Support Algorithms: Use Cases from the Veterans Health Administration” https://lnkd.in/gzdzrFiY #healthequity #algorithmicbias

As we wrap up National Public Health Week and look towards the “Future of Public Health,” there is a palpable sense of optimism. The advancements in telehealth and AI are not merely technological triumphs; they can be beacons of hope for an equitable health future. These innovations hopefully will bring a time when every community has a say in public health decisions, particularly those historically marginalized. Our Path Forward: •Harnessing Innovation for Equity: The integration of telehealth and AI into public health opens doors to broader, more inclusive strategies that transcend traditional healthcare, focusing on community-wide promotion and disease prevention. •Education as a Pillar of Trust: Educating communities and policymakers about the ethical use and potential of these technologies is crucial. It is through transparent communication and education that we can begin to rebuild the trust that has been eroded in recent times. •Community Collaboration for a Trusted Future: Engaging with communities directly, ensuring they are not just participants but leaders in public health innovation, is key to regaining and strengthening trust. The future of public health shines brightly with the promise of technology and the power of community. Yet, the journey ahead requires us to work tirelessly to regain the trust that is essential for these advances to reach their full potential. Together, with a commitment to equity, education, and partnership, we can leverage these innovations to build a healthier, more inclusive world. #NPHW #Telehealth #ArtificialIntelligence #PublicHealthFuture #RebuildingTrust #HealthEquity #CommunityPartnership #PublicHealth #HigherEducation #HealthCommunication

Kathy Ku had a great time representing Vive Collective at HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition in Orlando this week! Kathy was asked to share her perspective on healthcare trends, data, AI and security. Couldn't make it? We've got you covered! Here are the top takeaways: 💸 Health systems are re-evaluating their build vs buy decisions when it comes to AI solutions. 🌍 Global macro trends of an aging population + decreasing birth rates are contributing to how people think about labor, healthcare services and where care is delivered. 🔐 Security continues to be top of mind as administrators balance being innovative and methodical. #himss2024 #digitalhealthinnovation #healthcareinnovation #healthcareinvestment
