This past November 28th, I had the privilege of being invited by the organizers of Health Tech Forward 2023 inWarsaw, to participate as a panelist, bringing in a patient's perspective to the dynamic field of digital healthcare.
Joined by the brilliant Grace Cordovano, PhD, BCPA and expertly moderated by Ritesh Patel, we delved into an engaging Fireside Chat titled "𝐂𝐭𝐫𝐥 + 𝐀𝐥𝐭 + 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞."
The discussion was enlightening, and I'm thrilled to share some key takeaways:
💻 Digital Healthcare Evolution: We discussed the rapid transformation of digital healthcare and its impact on patient interactions and overall healthcare delivery.
🛠️ Patient Empowerment: Emphasizing the vital role patients play in shaping healthcare technologies, highlighting the need for their involvement and voice in this evolving landscape.
📱 Technological Innovation: Exploring cutting-edge innovations in digital healthcare, examining how these advancements are reshaping patient care.
👥 User-Centric Design: A focus on designing healthcare systems that prioritize patient needs, ensuring accessibility and personalization.
🌐 Global Health Implications: We touched on the worldwide impact of digital healthcare advancements, discussing accessibility and global health equity.
📊 Data and Privacy: Addressing the crucial aspects of data management and privacy in the digital healthcare sphere, underscoring the importance of securing patient information.
🤝 Collaborative Efforts: Highlighting the necessity for a collaborative approach among patients, healthcare providers, and technologists to develop effective digital healthcare solutions.
It was a truly enriching experience to share and learn from such knowledgeable experts and passionate peers. The future of digital healthcare is bright, and it's an honor to contribute to this transformative journey.
As a key takeaway, I want to emphasize the value of including patients in your conversations to enrich them. Their insights are invaluable in shaping the future of healthcare technology. 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸?

By 2030, 30% of all global #data will stem from #healthcare. Yet, 97% of that data is currently underutilized. The power of this data in prevention, early diagnosis, remote monitoring, and health equity could help mitigate some of the sustainability concerns for the future according to the article below.
In case you are interested, the World Economic Forum has been working on these challenges for the last few years and is continuing to build cross-industry groups to tackle the above challenges through #digitalhealth.
“Since 2016, the Forum has been working with partners to accelerate the transformation of healthcare systems worldwide, reaching over 100 clinics and hospitals. This work has included the development of the first-ever global healthcare systems transformation framework, bringing private and public sectors together to enhance patient outcomes through the Global Coalition for Value in Healthcare.”
A very well-argued article on the transformative potential of data and analytics in the healthcare sector from the World Economic Forum. Embracing digital transformation is imperative, and overcoming global hurdles should be front and center of national and international agendas. As hard as it might be from a political (and often legal) standpoint, ignoring to do that will not bode well in the face of the next global pandemic(s).
