We are so proud to be sponsors of the Partnership for Public Service's Service to America Medals next week! It is always one of the highlights of our year and we are thrilled to be able to support the recognition of extraordinary public servants! Speaking of which, make sure you read Michael Lewis' profile of Chris Mark in the Washington Post. Might be the best thing you read this year: https://lnkd.in/g8fcXyDv

3D Healthcare 💙 Effective and Sustainable Workflow Improvement in Care Delivery ♦ C-suites: Eliminate the Need for More Cost Cutting ♦ 3D Train the Trainer Certification Program ♦ A Loving Organization Culture Change
Apurv Gupta, MD, MPH - This is such a powerful post, Apurv. “The world doesn’t change one person at a time. It changes as networks of relationships form among people who discover they share a common cause and vision of what’s possible.” – Margaret, Wheatley and Deborah Frieze, “Using Emergence to Take Social Innovations to Scale” quoted in “Impact Networks” Meg Wheatley was ahead of her time when she wrote her iconic "Leadership and the New Science", which is still on my Recommended Reading List 18 years later. For me, Meg was the first prominent business leader to acknowledge energy and energy fields created by all businesses that negatively or positively effect staff and customers. Now we know the root causes of those energy fields and how to change negative ones to positive ones, creating better businesses. I'd heard often how someone was going to change the world one person at a time and wondered how this strategy could ever work. Even in my own work in healthcare, which I thought was a real breakthrough workflow improvement model #LovingWorkflows #3DHealthcare, I was mostly confined to working with one hospital at a time. In 20 years focused on healthcare, how many hospitals did I help out of the 6000+ in the US alone? Not many. Did my work make any real difference in the hospital I was working with? For the most part, improved metrics say yes, it did--at least until a new command and control CEO came in and began unraveling the good staff-led workflows/systems improvement work we'd done. Did the work make any difference in healthcare? No, it didn't. Healthcare continued it steady decline unabated, always doing the same non-workflow-improvement-based things expecting a different result. We are only going to turn healthcare if right actions can be done at scale. That's the purpose of #ALovingOrganizationConsortium, yes? This is The Great Gathering of kindred spirits who, together, will right the great but evermore listing ship that is healthcare. It appears #ALovingOrganization has struck a cord that resonates with many longing for a better healthcare system and world. We know the love is much more intelligent than fear and love knows the way home. It's time to give love a chance. After our July 17 A Loving Organization Consortium launch -- Recording: https://lnkd.in/gVzQXRty, I've been gratified to see the enthusiasm of those coming forward to create the necessary synergies that will turn healthcare. Critically, it's both individuals and organizations. It appears we're on the right track from an "Impact Networks" point of view. 💙 💙 #LovingSystems #4SimpleAgreements
The premise and promise of “Impact Networks” by David Ehrlichman has much to offer for A Loving Organization Consortium — “Impact networks build on the life force of community – shared principles, resilience, self organization, and trust – while leveraging the advantages of an effective organization, including a common aim, and operational backbone, and a bias for action.” Thanks to our Charter Member, Lonnie Hirsch, for the suggestion! 3D Healthcare 💙 Effective and Sustainable Workflow Improvement in Care Delivery ♦ C-suites: Eliminate the Need for More Cost Cutting ♦ 3D Train the Trainer Certification Program ♦ A Loving Organization Culture Change
Apurv Gupta, MD, MPH - Wow!--Apurv. I so love these quotes from "Impact Networks" that speak so beautifully to the power of love to transform at the levels of individual people, groups doing good work in the world, organizational cultures (#ALovingOrganization), and systems (#LovingWorkflows) where care is delivered and both patients and staff are cared for. As always, the challenge is not in bringing forth good or even brilliant ideas. It's in implementation and sustainability, yes? I believe the vision of A Loving Organization Consortium as a Great Gathering place for kindred spirits committed to systematic change based in love, aligns with the fact that healthcare transformation will take more than a village. We also now have universal science (love) on our side in the form of Nobel Prize-winning systems science and network science. Everything and everyone is already connected. How can we transform fear-based systems and fear-based mindsets that create the illusion of separation and win/lose--the source of our many problems? I think we've cracked the code. 💙 💙 #3DHealthcare #LovingSystemsThinking

Partnering with health plans to identify and deploy technology solutions to highest priority pain points
POV: trying to explain the US healthcare system to people of other nations... Revised script, for #SNL's consideration: Washington: In our new nation, everyone shall choose the right health coverage for their needs! Soldier: Who will pay for it, sir? W: Employers! S: They will pay for it? W: Some of them S: What of those who do not work? W: Some of those shall be covered by the government S: Only some..? W: And we shall call that Medicare S: Okay, that makes sense W: Or Medicare Advantage. Or Part D. Or Medicaid. Or ACA. Or VA. Or FEHB. Or IHS. S: Why so many names, sir? W: Liberty, son S: That sounds complicated, sir W: It is, soldier, it is S: At least they won't have to pay W: Oh they will have to pay, soldier. There shall be deductibles, and copays, and out of network providers S: Why, sir? W: And vision and dental, and behavioral health. And prescription drugs, which shall be covered through special companies whom nobody shall ever understand, called PBMs S: What are those sir? W: Nobody knows... But they shall work in mysterious ways to lower the price of drugs, and sometimes to increase them S: But why, sir? W: Nobody knows.... Except for Eric Bricker, MD, or maybe Eric Topol, MD, or some other Eric, we can hope S: At least the doctors will know and tell the people? W: The doctors will neither know nor care. All costs shall be shrouded in mystery. And there shall be tens of thousands of codes S: Codes sir..? W: And we shall have great books of codes, and armies of coders to code them into long documents that shall be sent to and fro at great speeds S: Are you sure all of that is necessary, sir? W: And we shall give the health plans stars, and HEDIS measures S: Hedis what, sir? W: HEDIS measures. And they shall determine a great many things but nobody shall understand them. And just when they begin to understand we shall add SDOH scores, and change the rules on Prior Auth S: Prior what, sir? W: Prior auth, the rules by which a doctor can determine what procedure he may prescribed to what patient at what time S: The rules of the government, sir? W: No, each health plan shall set its own rules. And to determine if the rules are followed the doctor shall send a fax S: A fax, sir? What's a fax? W: Nobody knows... S: At least, all diseases shall be conquered and none shall be sick? W: No. We shall be ranked 32nd out of 38 nations on life expectancy, and 61st in the world on maternal health outcomes S: That doesn't sound so good sir W: it is not S: But why sir? Why? W: Nobody knows... [stares into the distance]

We are very excited as we prepare for the WahlheYmat Talks on 🗓️ Wednesday, October 23, starting at 5:30 PM at the 📍Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek PopUp Saal. We'll be tackling a crucial topic with our guests — Mine Nang (Give Something Back to Berlin e.V. ) Kasia Wojcik (Berlin Polyphon) and Philipp von der Wippel (ProjectTogether) —young, talented leaders whose fresh perspectives, knowledge, and positive energy are truly transformative. It's a crucial topic because migration has become the number one social issue in Germany. But often, this focus is driven by fear, making us, newcomers for a projection surface of other problems in life. This reflects the core of our current situation: our city administration, politics, and democratic structures are too outdated to respond effectively to today’s challenges, big or small. So, how can we change this complex system? We see the role of civic society and civic organizations as essential. How can we transform this role? How do we strengthen civic organizations in terms of financial support, human resources, skills, and knowledge? How can we reimagine the relationship between politics and civic society? And how do we integrate the expertise, resources, and efficiency of the business sector into civic society? How can we do things differently? Civic organizations have a unique role in helping citizens to adapt. They can also help us see our lives, our roles, and our connections differently. As Erik Fernholm highlighted at the IDG Summit: What if we stopped viewing life as a journey with a fixed destination? What if life wasn’t a journey at all, but more like music—music we appreciate, music that inspires us to add to it. And adding to music means: dance. The purpose of music isn’t to reach the final note—it’s to dance. Seeing things differently is what ignites change. Please join us on Wednesday to experience the energy of civic society and reflect together on how we can innovate our democracy. Let’s start the discussion right now! Share your thoughts and questions in only 2 minutes here: https://lnkd.in/eKZae4gp Like. Share. Join. - Diverse voices tell the complete truth
