I've spent two quarters as an ADR at Samsara, and here are the things I am going to keep doing, and the things I'm going to stop ❌ doing immediately: Stop doing: 1️⃣ Getting 'pitch happy'. Gotta know when the time to pitch is versus time to ask questions. I've historically been a little quick to press the 'pitch button' 2️⃣ Leaning too far back in my chair and almost falling over during a cold-call. This has happened at least 4 times this quarter, as embarrassing as it is 🤣 3️⃣ Saying 'Cheers' at the end of every call. I don't know if it's a San Diego thing, but I say it more often than not Things I want to continue doing: 1️⃣ Learning about the specific problem of every account I call into. Basically just understanding their business better than anyone. 2️⃣ Staying super deliberate with who I call and why. Having an actual reason to call/email. 3️⃣ Learning from people around me. Having the 'dumbest guy in the room' mentality. 4️⃣ Listening to other people's calls and implementing things I like. Q1 starts next week. Let's get it 🎉

The top 3 things I learnt from spending a week at Dan Pena's castle 1) Have a thick skin, business is tough, people will do you over, call you names and lie about you. Dan Treats his mentees tough to prepare them for this. 2) You can improve your chances of winning against people smarter than you simply by out working them. Dan makes you stay up late watching videos about business while having a few drinks then wants you up bright and early ready to attack the day He does this to replicate life. Most people will lay in and rest the morning after, the winners will get up and attack the day no matter what 3) Leverage others peoples reputations and skillsets. I have done this relentlessly and make sure I only partner with people better than me in my weak areas
