🌞🍃 Ample land for sustainable renewable expansion in Europe! New study by European Environmental Bureau reveals that Europe has sufficient land to expand solar and wind energy without compromising food production or nature. The study shows that only half of the land deemed suitable for renewable energy—excluding natural reserves and high-value agricultural areas—is needed to decarbonise the EU by 2040. 👉 Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dYvtmTh8

Syed Humza Farhan’s articles are always well worth a read. I may be biased, but his grasp of subject matter is second to none. Here he looks at and explains the Great British Energy company being set up by the new Government. If successfully delivered, and there is no reason why that shouldn’t be the case, this will be a game changer for UK #renewables. The fact that more of our off-shore wind assets, or indeed Solar farms were not government owned has always vexed me. Preferring to these to be funded by private equity, overseas sovereign wealth funds and overseas owned utility companies - none of whom have an aligned interest with UK energy consumers. There are very sensible returns to be made by investors whilst still being able to supply genuinely low-cost power - why we didn’t launch UK Green Government bonds when interest rates were 0.1% is astonishing. #netzero #netzerocarbon #windpower #solarpv #renewableenergy #decarbonising
The Great British Energy (GBE) has come to life across the energy sector, and with the newly elected Labor Government there is a hopeful shift towards sustainability. As commercial real estate owners grapple with environmental imperatives, companies in the renewable space like Syzygy find themselves at a pivotal juncture. Syzygy’s Project Manager Syed Humza Farhan, delves deeper into the implications of GBE’s creation for Syzygy’s client base. Humza’s detailed analysis breaks down the benefits of this initiative, such as reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels, lowering energy costs, creating jobs, and advancing towards a 2030 green energy target. While the benefits are substantial, he also considers what challenges lie ahead and the ways Syzygy can assist in seamlessly integrating renewable solutions. 🙌 SB24-212 passed! What does that mean? 🙌 SB24-212 is a study bill that will examine the current pathways for siting utility-scale renewable energy projects and evaluate the impacts of those facilities on wildlife and communities. 🔎 Why is that important? 🔎 “We know that to meet its ambitious clean energy goals, Colorado must rapidly increase renewable energy development across the state. Today’s bill is a critical step forward in meeting this challenge while ensuring new development does not exacerbate threats to wildlife,” said Severiano DeSoto, Energy Siting Policy Advisor at WRA. “Local and Tribal governments will be able to tap into the added expertise and resources of a number of state agencies to ensure that communities can lead development in a way that balances local values, preserves the vital habitats of wildlife and meets clean energy needs in a responsible, science-based manner.” ⚡ 🐏 Learn more 👉 https://bit.ly/44emqmW

Indigenous Peoples are leading the charge in Canada's clean energy transition. A 2022 paper by Indigenous Clean Energy highlights that First Nations, Métis, and Inuit entities are partners or beneficiaries of nearly 20% of Canada’s electricity-generating infrastructure, with most of it being renewable energy. This leadership is pivotal in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable energy practices. 🌞💧🍃 #CleanEnergy #IndigenousLeadership #RenewableResources #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #Canada #NIPD2024
