I recently worked with two clients at StriveOpp who needed help with their fellowship and post-graduate applications. 🎓✈️ In both cases, I encouraged them to do one thing: Close their eyes and imagine. 🌟Imagine what it feels like to receive their acceptance letter. 🌟Imagine what it feels like to interact with others in the program. 🌟Imagine who they would first tell when they hear the good news. 🌟Imagine how it would feel to be closer to their long-term goal. This exercise is powerful because imagination and visualization encourage a state of confidence. ✨Confidence that empowers applicants to share their ambitious goals. 💰Ambitious goals that donors want to invest in. ✨Confidence inspires applicants to boldly share their accomplishments. 💰Accomplishments that show donors the relentless efforts of applicants. 🚀🔍 ✨ Confidence for an applicant to be authentic. 🌿💬 💰Authenticity separates an applicant in an applicant pool of hundreds of people. ----- My name is Dolapo, and I run StriveOpp. We work with you to empower, enable, and equip you for your scholarship and fellowship application process. I'm excited to share that I've been accepted into the Cowrywise Campus Ambassador Program! Being a Cowrywise Campus Ambassador is what I have always wanted to do, right from my early days in school, but being fixed up in several engagements, I have to wait until I can fully concentrate to learn before enrolling. I actually took a bold but doubtful step to put forth my application early January this year, I was doubting because I am in my final year and i heard a friend say finalist are not so considered (I guess this isn't true as I got despite being a finalist) . Being a Cowrywise Campus Ambassador is a dream come true for me, as I have always looked forward to being a part of this vibrant community of students working together to promote financial literacy and empowerment. I applied as a member of the Data Team Volunteer, and I believe that this program will provide me with the tools and resources I need to make a positive impact. I'll be working on exciting projects while, at the at the same time, sharing my experiences and learnings with all of you and inspiring others to explore the power of data. I remember a word from an event that echos within: it says, 'Some privileges are meant to be enjoyed and taken advantage of while on campus, which won't be available anymore after leaving school'. Despite my finals, whenever I remember this, I look around to see opportunities I can plug into before leaving school. If you are still in your early days of school or in your finals, like myself, take an interest in volunteering and being a part of the student community, as these experiences can prepare you for your career. Your undergraduate days can make you resourceful and ready enough for your dream career. #CowrywiseAmbassador #DataTeam #DataScience #CampusAmbassador #Leadership #DataDriven

Throughout my career, I've frequently been asked, "What do you do?" When I mention #alumnirelations, I often receive blank looks. To simplify, I say, "I organise events." However, alumni relations encompass a wealth of complexities beyond just event planning, and this post by Florence Neo summarises well what we do and why we do what we do. #oarsometeam #oarsomework #LivingItUp #KeepUp #StepUp #ShowUp #LevelUp

#demystify Working in #alumnirelations often leads to varied reactions from people. Some common misconceptions: 💡 Do you fund-raise? 𝘕𝘰, 𝘸𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥-𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘦! 💡 Do you have to handle a lot of complaints? 𝘖𝘤𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺. 💡Do you get paid? 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳. In the world of alumni relations, our “𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺" is #engagement and #connection which translates to the #value alumni bring in the forms of: 1️⃣ 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: Volunteering, mentoring, and attending events. 2️⃣ 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Participation in alumni groups, chapters, and boards. 3️⃣ 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲: Promoting the university and its programmes to prospective students and the broader community. 4️⃣ 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞: Sharing expertise through guest lectures, workshops, masterclasses and mentorship programs. 5️⃣ 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: Building and maintaining professional and social connections within the alumni community. To ensure that alumni engagement and connection contribute towards the ongoing success and vitality of #SMU, the OARsome team is proud to introduce a hot off the press 📣 campaign! We encourage #sgSMUalumni to do the following: ▶️ 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐔𝐏 📈 with campus news ▶️ 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐔𝐏👫🏻at alumni events ▶️ 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐔𝐏 🙋🏻♀️ as volunteers and advocates ▶️ 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐔𝐏 📚 through lifelong learning We're excited for this new initiative to #energise and #motivate alumni with ways to engage and nurture a #vibrant community that benefits both our alumni and #SMU! Building CareerKit: Empowering Individuals in their Career Development Journey with Innovative Online Tools, Resources and Products
🌟 Inspiring Conversations at the Career Day Basecamp! 🌟 I'm thrilled to share a powerful moment from our recent Career Day Basecamp at ML Sultan Secondary School by CareerKit in partnership with Ford Philanthropy and Watson Institute. In this video, I had the privilege of speaking to parents about the vital role they play in their children's career development. Key Takeaways: - Shepherding, Not Engineering: As parents, it's crucial to guide and support our children in discovering their passions and strengths rather than trying to dictate their paths. By shepherding rather than engineering their lives, we empower them to make informed and fulfilling career choices. - Self-Awareness and Self-Actualization: Before young people venture out into the world, understanding themselves is paramount. Self-awareness leads to self-actualization, which is essential for personal and professional success. Encouraging our children to explore their interests and understand their unique traits sets the foundation for their future endeavors. Let's foster environments where our children can thrive, explore, and achieve their true potential. Together, we can create a brighter future for the next generation. Thank you to all the parents who attended and engaged in this meaningful discussion. Your support and involvement are invaluable. #CareerDayBasecamp #ParentalGuidance #SelfAwareness #SelfActualization #Empowerment #CareerDevelopment #FutureLeaders #CareerKit #Community

OneTen hosted a Mix and Learn for people trying to navigate in their careers without having a college degree. It's me, I'm people 😉..... STORY TIME 📖 I've been a mom since I was 16. While most of the kids in my class were figuring out what colleges to apply to and what to major in, I was figuring out how I'd be paying for formula and diapers. College was not in the forefront of my thoughts. By the time I even considered school, I was in my mid 20's and felt super late to the party 🙃. Even so, I started my slow and steady race to obtain a degree in business management. The stress of balancing single motherhood, working, managing a household, and school took a heavy toll. I made a decision to drop the one thing that started to feel unimportant and unattainable. Take a wild guess as to which one I dropped 👀. I could write a whole dissertation about the journey alone! The takeaway is that we've all taken different paths on our journies and we all know that life is in no way linear. I want to thank the people at OneTen for hosting this particular workshop that was full of information, resources, connections and most importantly, the vibes 💖. People had a safe space to share their stories, what they need help with, and get the elevation they are seeking. I encourage others to check them out as well ☺️. #oneten #careerresources #scholarships #networking #workshops #workingmoms #motherhood
