As Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week kicks off, it’s important to spotlight the importance of keeping little ones safe on the road. This week serves as a vital reminder for parents and caregivers to review and enhance their child passenger safety practices. -Properly installed car seats reduce the risk of death by up to 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers. -Nearly half of the car seats are installed incorrectly. Check your installation with your vehicle’s manual or visit a car seat inspection station. -Follow the latest safety guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to ensure optimal protection. -Booster Seat Transition: Move to a booster seat when your child outgrows their car seat. Ensure they use it until they fit properly in an adult seat belt, usually around 4’9” and 8-12 years old. -Buckle up every time and model safe driving practices for your kids. #ChildPassengerSafety #CarSeatSafety #SafeDriving

This is for all the pediatricians out there, those whom I know and those whom I have yet to meet. You are important and valued and worthy and priceless as are the children you care for. "While a healthy childhood does not guarantee a healthy adulthood, an unhealthy childhood certainly makes a healthy adulthood less likely. If society wants healthy adults for the future of the country, the children of today need a physician workforce to count on. The country needs pediatricians. We ask you to think of that child you love and to advocate for changes that support the sustainability of pediatrics care. We know so deeply that these children’s lives have value. Let us back that with policy." #dignity #dignityofwork #children #policy #leadership

The Wall Street Journal write an alarming article. ⏰ Only about 14% of emergency departments nationwide are certified to treat children. This lack of preparation results in tragic outcomes... Children are four times more likely to die in less-prepared emergency rooms. 😱 Healthcare innovation with pediatric population is difficult. The population is seen as small and not wealthy... So, the funding is mostly allocated to cardiac-vascular issues for 40+ and for elderly. Our youth deserves better care. Remember that the children are 25% of the population but 100% of our future. 💪 We believe in the power of pediatric innovation. It is not easy. There are a lot of constraints: size, signals, indirect communication through caregivers, etc. We are not working in emergency departments depicted in the article. We are working after this with our RPM platform. Our mission is to expand hospital care to every child at home. Thanks to the technology, it is now possible. Ensuring the health and safety of our children requires a collective effort. We must focus on funding and support for pediatric healthcare innovation. Together, we can create a future where every child receives the care they deserve, regardless of where they are treated. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eu8_5WZU #pediatricscare #RPM #homecare #emergencydepartment #careinnovation

What Steps Can Be Taken to Ensure Equitable Care for All NICU Families? This article explores how racial and ethnic discrimination affects families in the NICU. Through surveys and open-ended responses from parents, the study reveals that racism often manifests subtly as neglectful care, with parents noting disparities in attention and treatment based on race. The findings highlight the need for NICUs to address implicit biases and ensure equitable treatment for all families, promoting a more inclusive healthcare environment. Key Takeaways: 💡 Coexistence of Care and Harm: Parents in the NICU often experience a mixture of compassionate care and harmful neglect, with some attributing negative interactions to racial or ethnic discrimination. This duality highlights a complex environment where quality of care is inconsistent. 💡 Racism as Neglectful Care: Instances of racism often manifest subtly through neglectful treatment. Parents reported disparities in care based on racial concordance, where infants of the same race as NICU staff sometimes received preferential treatment, especially during critical care moments like feeding. 💡 Power Imbalance in Advocacy: The study highlights the significant power differential between NICU staff and parents, particularly during parental advocacy. Parents often felt dismissed or undervalued when voicing concerns, which exacerbated feelings of powerlessness and impacted their ability to advocate effectively for their infants. 💡 Need for Equity in NICU Care: The findings emphasize the urgent need for NICUs to address implicit biases and reinforce equitable care practices. By fostering awareness and training on racial sensitivity, NICUs can improve interactions with families and create a more inclusive care environment. Learn more about our findings and the steps NICUs can take to promote inclusivity in patient care by reading the full article. Reference: Smith O, Karvonen KL, Gonzales-Hinojosa MD, et al. 🌎 The United States prioritizes #developmental #assessment practices as a national focus. This commitment is supported by federal programs, insurance coverage, and the concrete guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatrics: ✍ Federal efforts are intensifying to promote universal developmental screening. Programs like #ChildFind and #BirthTo5: #WatchMeThrive! are driving this initiative, aiming to make developmental assessments legally required for all children. 💵 #Reimbursement for developmental assessments up to age 21 is provided by #Medicaid (https://lnkd.in/dtThkzdg) and major private insurers, including Kaiser Permanente (https://lnkd.in/dwT_M9v4) and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (https://lnkd.in/dvY7g6PG). ⚕ The American Academy of Pediatrics strongly emphasizes the obligation to conduct annual developmental assessments for all children up to age 21 (https://lnkd.in/d-qUScQB) #Innoccu supports these efforts by providing a standardized, objective, and cost-effective developmental assessment tool. Designed for adaptability in #Telehealth settings, Innoccu ensures that assessments can be completed even when in-person visits are not feasible. #Innoccu is bringing new technology to child health, pushing progress and promising a healthier tomorrow for children worldwide. https://lnkd.in/dnQCuK-T https://lnkd.in/d7be7p92 https://lnkd.in/dtThkzdg https://lnkd.in/dPGzZziU
