Located in the heart of Brisbane, the Goodstart Early Learning Centre is a tropical oasis that offers a world-class education facility for children. The landscape encourages learning through play, designed to evolve alongside the children as they grow, with the rhythm of the landscape reflecting their development. The atrium of this former retail mall was used to create a central spine that brings in natural light and fresh air to a rooftop garden and indoor play area. Our design for Hamilton Parklands School delivered a single, extruded linear form that is arranged on-site to create and frame a shared central courtyard. The façade has been meticulously considered, drawing upon a simple domestic vernacular to create moments and opportunities for students to connect with the external gardens and landscape elements throughout the campus. Gray Puksand implemented sustainable circularity principles to reinvigorate Transgrid's workspace and achieve a 6 Star Green Star interior rating. The planning focuses on reconnecting staff and fostering a sense of community. References to electricity lines and Indigenous elements can be found throughout the space, symbolising the movement of energy and emphasising community connection. Revitalising underutilised spaces was a key focus in the design, with the signature Winter Garden and front-of-house meeting rooms being transformed to enhance collaboration and culture. The Beca workspace in Melbourne, designed by Gray Puksand, forges a strong connection to the Australian environment. The design models sustainability through the utilisation of natural, authentic materials, including Australian granite, recycled plastic, green ceramics, cork flooring and spotted gum veneer. Balance and connection are seamlessly integrated throughout the design, reflecting Beca’s values and deep ties to the environment and place.
