Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s Post

🌟 More Support for Affordable Housing and Homelessness Services in Norfolk 🌟 From April 1, 2025, second homes in the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, North Norfolk District Council, and Great Yarmouth Borough Council areas will be subject to a 100% council tax premium, doubling the rate unless exemptions apply. Thanks to a collaborative agreement with Norfolk County Council, 25% of the extra revenue raised will go towards funding affordable housing and homelessness services in these districts, areas significantly impacted by second home ownership. 💬 Leaders share their thoughts: 🔵Cllr Alistair Beales (West Norfolk): “This agreement ensures funds raised go directly to communities most affected, delivering much-needed housing and homelessness support.” 🔵Cllr Carl Smith (Great Yarmouth): “This vital £240,000 of new funding for Great Yarmouth will make a meaningful difference for our residents.” 🔵Cllr Tim Adams (North Norfolk): “An additional £1.7m will help us tackle our biggest challenge—providing support for people in urgent need of housing.” 🔵Cllr Andrew Jamieson (Norfolk County Council): “We welcome this initiative, with funds supporting local homelessness services and other vital services like social care.” This agreement highlights the power of collaboration between councils to invest in solutions that matter most to our communities. 🏠✨ #NorfolkHousing #CouncilTax #AffordableHousing #HomelessnessSupport #GreatYarmouth
