🔔Ringing the bell is a tradition that marks the completion of Peace Corps service. Volunteers are filled with mixed emotions as they reflect on the experiences and connections that will stay with them forever, bid farewell to friends and the communities they've called home, and prepare to return to the United States. 🖱️ Click through the photos to see the unique ways Volunteers ring the bell in different #PeaceCorps countries.

After serving in Uganda ('01) and not having the chance to ring the bell (it wasn't a thing then), it was pure joy watching ~800 PCVs ring out of PC Tanzania yet ring in to the journeys and adventures ahead. What a transformative experience with more lasting memories, hardships, successes, and lifelong friends made than probably any other 2-years of my life.

My wife and I served together from 2012-2013 in Indonesia. This tradition was a fabulous way to close an emotional 2 years. We rang be proud of the family like relationships we developed in our community. We rang with excitement for the future bringing our experiences with us. We soon after embarked on 8 additional years in country through other ventures and stay thankful for our peace corp years.

I never heard of this tradition and COSed in 2006. Does that mean I'm still a volunteer until I ring a bell, haha?

Yes, we rang the bell but had been approved for an additional year of service. I still reflect on this final time together with those whom we came to know over our two years of service; it will stay with me till the end of days.
