Today is a day where we take a moment and look at the impact of the tourism, hospitality and meetings industry, the big events industry. It's a day to take stock and the economy that would help generate the jobs that we drive, the tax resources we drive. Each year. Millions of visitors are pouring here into Miami-Dade to experience this slice of paradise and they're boosting our economy. We are an international destination, an incredible place that people literally save up to come here and enjoy our amazing. Hotels, our beaches, our restaurants, travel is $2.8 trillion industry that supports nearly 15,000,000 American jobs, 15,000,000 American jobs, incredible numbers. We're seeing Miami on the forefront of being one of the great global cities and its assets like the ones that we have in our airport and seaport that are the front door to our city and to our community this past year, this past. Calendar year we welcomed 7.5 million cruise passengers to your Port Miami. We're going to continue also to be the leader in attracting major sporting events conventions. And with this influx of economic activity, my office is fully focused on making this boom one that offers opportunity for all. Literally the rising tide must lift all votes. 52.3 million passengers. That was our number last year that's. Back-to-back years of record passenger growth at Mia. What does that mean for us long term? We're looking at about 77 million passengers by the year 2040. We all work hand in hand to make sure that not only Miami-Dade County, but that the state of Florida continues to be the top ranking state in every category in the country. But none of these happen without all of you here in this room. You work and your commitment helped make this paradise we call home and an amazing. Place to live, work, play and of course, to visit.
