On a remote Chilean island, native trees are making a comeback thanks to the restoration efforts of #IndigenousPeoples like Anita Neguimán Antillanca.   See how FAO-Corporación Nacional Forestal-the Green Climate Fund are working to build climate resilience by restoring native trees.   https://lnkd.in/df83gX43

This effort is highly commendable. However, a rating and ranking of the native plant species on the basis of their capacity to provide food to native animal biodiversity will help restoration of native animal biodiversity as well. Because, biodiversity repellent plants survive grazing and dominate the ecosystem.

Think of it! Indigenous people managed ecosystems near and far in a way that sustained fish and wildlife at incredible levels for thousands of years. It has taken immigrants from Europe just a few hundred years to destroy these resources at such levels that the existence of hundreds of thousands of species are threatened, endangered or even extinct. Anyone who thinks he or she is invulnerable to these impacts is living a lie.
