Every summer, Green Corps organizers finish their year directing citizen outreach offices across the country. This summer, they are recruiting and training teams to mobilize thousands of citizens and raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to protect right whales, save America's oldest forests, expand marine protected areas in California, and tackle plastic pollution!

Yesterday was a beautiful day, and I had promised my little niece a trip to the park for some quality time together. She's always been special to me, my little protégé and eco warrior, passionate about climate change and environmental issues. Whenever we head out for our Riverside Cleanup sessions, she's right there with me, eager to make a difference. After a day filled with laughter, rides, and various activities, we decided to grab a bite to eat. As we waited for our order, I noticed a young man nearby who had just finished drinking from a bottle of water and carelessly dropped it on the ground. Engrossed in managing our meal, I didn't immediately notice that my niece had slipped away from my side and approached the young man. Imagine my surprise when I saw her, just ten years old, engaging the young man in conversation. She calmly educated him about the hazards of littering and why it's essential to practice proper waste disposal. She emphasized that knowing and caring for our environment is everyone's responsibility. To my amazement, the young man picked up the plastic waste and searched for the nearest bin, moved by her words. In that moment, I couldn't help but marvel at her maturity and poise, far beyond her years. It reinforced my belief that educating the next generation about environmental stewardship is crucial. We must equip them with the knowledge and values to ensure they don't contribute to a world burdened by careless waste disposal. In our collective effort for a better environment, embracing sustainable living and adopting a zero-waste lifestyle are paramount. It's a journey that begins with awareness and individual responsibility, and my niece's actions that day reaffirmed my hope for a greener, more conscientious future. #staypositive #sustainableliving #wastemonie

Earth Day is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness and take action to protect our planet. 1. Learn About Environmental Challenges: Knowledge is power! please educate yourself about the real environmental problems we’re facing. 2. Plant Trees and Wildflowers: Promote clean air and support indigenous wildlife by planting trees It’s a beautiful way to contribute to the planet’s health. 3. Volunteer for Litter Cleanup: Participate in local park cleanups or organize a recycling drive for glass and plastic containers. Every piece of litter removed makes a difference. 4. Walk or Ride Your Bike: Reduce harmful carbon emissions by going car-free for the day. 5. Limit Water Use: Conserve water by turning healthy, and taking shorter showers. Install water-saving systems like drip irrigation or rain barrels for gardening2. 6. Turn Off Lights When Not in Use: Save electricity by turning off lights when leaving a room. Switch to Non-Toxic Cleaning Products: Choose environmentally-friendly cleaning products. Remember, celebrating Earth Day isn’t just about one day—it’s about making conscious choices every day to protect our beautiful planet!

Today marks World Environment Day, an annual awareness campaign that is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by people across the world. This day celebrates environmental action and emphasises the power of governments, businesses, and individuals to create a more sustainable world. This year's slogan for the campaign is: "Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration." The campaign recognises that we cannot reverse time and stop the harm that has already occurred. However, we can make an effort to rejuvenate the soil and replenish water sources. World Environment Day is a vital reminder of our shared responsibility to safeguard the Earth and promote sustainability, and so, across our region, our people came together to organise local litter picks. In total, 12 litter picks took place over the last month, with an amazing 115 volunteers all sparing their time to make a difference and help our planet thrive. Our people collected and responsibly disposed of over 640 kg of rubbish, with over 130kg of this being plastic waste. 👏 Well done to everyone involved; together, we have made a positive impact on our planet! #Altrad #People #WorldEnvironmentDay #Sustainability #ProtectOurPlanet

🤔 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙚, 𝙖 𝙫𝙖𝙥𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣? They were all carelessly thrown away into the bushes, amongst many other forms of trash, at Treptower Park in Berlin, often less than 100m away from the next trash can. 👎 But they were also all picked up by a group of volunteers from the German Fulbright Alumni Association. 👍 Last weekend, people all around the world gathered for #WorldCleanupDay to collectively remove trash from parks, forests, beaches, and rivers. We participated in Berlin with the local alumni chapter for a cleanup effort which was organized by our wonderful extended board member for sustainability Alexandra Schaller. Thanks again!! It was incredible to see other groups picking up trash around us as well, showing that it truly was a collective effort, with some even sharing food with us, when we did a break. This experience reaffirmed our commitment to environmental preservation and the role each of us can play in keeping our planet clean and safe for future generations. 🌱 It's heartening to see the impact a group of dedicated individuals can have when they come together for a common cause (we collected around 50kg of trash in 4hrs). I encourage everyone to participate in local cleanup initiatives and raise awareness about the importance of responsible waste management. The next World Cleanup Day is March 16th, 2024, so mark your calendar. Together, we can make a difference! 🙌 #WorldCleanupDay #FulbrightAlumni #EnvironmentalPreservation #Sustainability #CleanUpOurWorld
