🗞️ We are glad to share today's interview on La Repubblica by Emma Bonotti with Carlo Montella, Managing Partner at #GreenHorseLegal, about the potential and challenges of #EnergyRelease 2.0. Carlo shared his insights on this innovative measure aimed at stabilizing energy costs for energy-intensive companies while promoting renewable energy development. Here are some key takeaways: 💡 For Energy-Intensive Companies: 🔸 High interest due to the opportunity for stable energy prices in a volatile market. 🔸 A significant challenge lies in the requirement to build renewable energy plants with a capacity at least double the energy allocated by the GSE. For example, a company consuming 1 GWh must install around 1.3 MW of renewable capacity—far from straightforward given that newly authorized plants in Italy now average 10 MW or more. 🔸 Tight deadlines mean companies must seek pre-authorized solutions, yet finding suitable installations matching decree requirements can be challenging. 🔸 Aggregation with other companies is possible but involves non-standard contracts and risks, like tight construction deadlines , that are outside their control. 💡 For Renewable Energy Producers: 🔸 They could play a strategic partner role, boosting their project pipelines. 🔸 Success hinges on meeting tight deadlines and overcoming the highlighted hurdles. The government's intent with this measure is certainly commendable and is generating significant market interest. Our concern, however, is that its application may be limited or fall short of expectations. 🙏 We sincerely thank Emma Bonotti for the interview which is available in today’s edition of La Repubblica.

🌍💡 Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) Did you know that Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) play a key role in developing renewable energy projects? 🔋⚡ These long-term contracts between energy producers (like solar or wind power plants) and buyers (such as governments or companies) are essential for securing sustainable revenue for investors. 🏢🌞 👀 Why are PPAs important? 🌱 Support for renewable energy: Boosting investment in clean energy. 🔒 Revenue guarantee: Long-term contracts provide financial stability. 💰 Fixed pricing: Energy prices are locked in for the long term, reducing risks. 📅 Contract duration: Ranges from 10 to 25 years. 💸 Energy price: A fixed price for the produced energy. 🔋 Energy quantity: The agreed amount of energy to be purchased. In today's world, PPAs are a critical tool for advancing clean energy and securing the funding needed for new and sustainable projects. 🌍⚡ #RenewableEnergy #PPA #Sustainability #SolarEnergy #WindEnergy #Investment #EnergyFuture

Is the permitting process of renewable projects in your country too slow? ⌛ The revised #RenewableEnergyDirective aims to change this, with the introduction of Renewable Acceleration Areas (#RAAs). 🔎 Renewable Acceleration Areas are designated zones within the EU where renewable energy projects, such as wind and solar farms, can be fast-tracked due to simplified permitting and approval processes. These areas will have high potential for renewable energy production and low environmental impacts, helping the EU meet its climate and energy targets more efficiently. However, identifying these areas is not always straightforward…. The European Commission's DG ENER recently published a new study on the designation of RAAs for onshore and #offshore #wind and #solar photovoltaic energy, carried out by Trinomics. The study builds on DG ENER's Guidance on Designating Renewables Acceleration Areas', published in May. ⚡🔄 The study helps Member States in understanding how to comply with #Article 15c of the revised Renewable Energy Directive by: ▪ Outlining the key steps of the RAA identification process, ▪ Identifying and understanding the environmental impacts that onshore and offshore wind and solar photovoltaic plants can have, ▪ Identifying the appropriate mitigation measures to be proposed in the RAA area plan. You can find the study here ➡ https://lnkd.in/eGgqijKS 💡Interested to know more? I’m thrilled to see the release of Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC)’s Position Paper on Ensuring The Social License for Wind Projects in Latin America last week during OLADE - Organización Latinoamericana de Energía's IX Energy Week of Latin America and the Caribbean in #Paraguay. Collaborating with Marcela Ruas, Ramón Fiestas Hummler, Emerson Clarke and Rebecca Williams on this project was an absolute pleasure. I couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done to develop the policy recommendations that enable gaining and maintaining the community acceptance and support for wind energy projects in the region. Latin America is at a critical juncture in its renewable energy journey, with vast potential to harness its abundant wind resources to drive economic growth, reduce carbon emissions, and achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a result, the community engagement is essential—not only to meet global net-zero goals but also to create stronger and more prosperous local communities through a just energy transition. A lot of great work has already been done in the region and with stronger policy frameworks, streamlined permitting and ensuring effective community engagement practices that enable equitable benefit sharing, we can ensure that wind energy projects not only accelerate renewable adoption but also deliver meaningful, long-term benefits to the communities involved. By aligning these projects with local priorities, we foster trust, drive job creation, support new infrastructure, and accelerate energy transition.
