US Congress Promulgates the Proposal of Food Packaging Non-toxic Act 2023 On October 26, 2023, the US Senate and House of Representatives promulgated the proposal H.R. 6105 "Non-toxic in Food Packaging Act of 2023" at a congressional rally, which will amend Article 409 of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act. The proposal identified five substances as unsafe to use in food contact materials. The requirements involved in the proposal will take effect two years after the formal promulgation of the bill. Based on the requirements of this proposal, the following substances will be identified as unsafe food contact substances: CTT Reminder: According to the proposal of H.R. 6105 "Non-toxic in Food Packaging Act of 2023", the manufacturers of relevant food contact materials and products should gradually reduce the use of the above five kinds of substances as raw materials or additives for food contact materials and products, and should look for substitute materials as soon as possible.

Warning letters sent out to companies sending Delta-8 THC products interstate commerce. These are FD&C Act violations. It doesn't say they are in violation of the farm bill but the products are misbranded as "food." Full FDA news release below "Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued warning letters to five companies for illegally selling copycat food products containing delta-8 THC and introducing them into the marketplace in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act). The warning letters were issued to: Hippy Mood, Earthly Hemps, Shamrockshrooms, Mary Janes Bakery Co. LLC and Life Leaf Medical CBD Center.
