🚨 Breaking the glass cliff! 🚨 Research confirms that women leaders are often promoted to high-risk leadership positions in times of organizational crises, recession or challenges. These precarious positions inevitably mean that these women are more likely to fail during their time in office. 🔍 But why? It's not about their abilities; it's about societal biases and skewed opportunities. Assumptions about gender traits play a significant role – traditionally feminine qualities like 'tactfulness' and 'understanding' are unfairly favored in crisis situations. Recognizing this phenomenon is crucial for reshaping perceptions and creating supportive environments for inclusive leadership. Let's join forces to shatter the glass cliff and pave the way for equitable leadership opportunities! 🌟 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dpKEBQS7 European CEO Magazine Carolina Müller-Möhl Julia Maria Trzicky Anne Brupbacher Natalie Baumgartner Alexandra Berta #BreakTheGlassCliff #WomenInLeadership #EqualityMatters #GenderEquality

"Diversity Drives Success: The Power of Women Leaders in Organizations" In today's global business landscape, diversity isn't just a buzzword—it's a proven catalyst for success. Organizations with a healthy representation of women leaders consistently outperform their less diverse counterparts. The numbers speak for themselves: McKinsey's 2020 report found that companies in the top quartile for gender diversity on executive teams were 25% more likely to have above-average profitability. A recent ToI article by Shilpa Phadnis covering the women leaders in the GCC space and the impact they have been able to deliver was extremely impressive on how women leaders are supercharging their parent organization. ANSR exemplifies this trend, boasting an impressive 42% women representation in its leadership team. This diversity has been instrumental in ANSR's remarkable achievement of helping establish over 50 Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in last 4 years —a testament to the power of inclusive leadership. Diverse teams bring varied perspectives, fostering innovation and better decision-making. Women leaders often bring strong emotional intelligence and collaborative skills, enhancing team dynamics and client relationships. A recent ANSR study revealed that companies with more diverse management teams have 19% higher innovation revenues. ANSR's success story sets an aspirational tone for the world, demonstrating that gender-diverse leadership isn't just the right thing to do—it's a strategic advantage. As more organizations embrace diversity, we can expect to see increased innovation, improved performance, and more inclusive global business practices. Lalit Ahuja Vikram Ahuja Avneet H. Women are still underrepresented on senior leadership teams according to the latest data from our sixth annual report. On ISEQ 20 companies the percentage of women on senior leadership teams is 27%, falling short of the target set for 2023. Other company groupings including private companies, other listed companies and multinationals also did not achieve their targets for this year. When looking at key decision-making roles such as CEO, CFO and Chair, findings show a clear need to accelerate the pace of change. The total number of female CEOs across all publicly listed companies has fallen to three, just 9% of all listed companies. While companies have made significant progress at board level, it is clear that focused action at senior leadership level is necessary to accelerate change. This year’s report provides a number of key recommendations to address this area including building gender balanced succession plans and mandating gender balanced candidate lists for open roles in leadership teams. Despite strides forward, the stark reality remains: women are significantly underrepresented in senior leadership positions. According to the World Economic Forum, only 7.4% of global CEOs are women, shedding light on the persistent gender gap in leadership. Women face a myriad of barriers, from biased performance systems to limited networking opportunities, hindering their rise to leadership roles. But these obstacles aren't insurmountable—they're challenges waiting to be overcome, not just for ourselves but for generations to come. To spark meaningful change, here are five actionable steps women can take to secure more senior leadership positions: 1️⃣ Advocate fiercely for inclusive hiring practices, ensuring fair access to leadership roles. 2️⃣ Cultivate strong mentorship relationships to receive guidance and support from seasoned leaders. 3️⃣ Equip yourself with bias training to navigate and combat systemic biases in the workplace. 4️⃣ Seek out and negotiate for flexible work arrangements to balance professional and personal responsibilities. 5️⃣ Invest in ongoing leadership development tailored to your unique talents and aspirations. Together, let's champion inclusivity and empowerment, forging a path where every voice matters and every talent thrives. #WomenLeadership #GenderEquality #InclusiveLeadership

In an industry as dynamic as retail, leadership is not just a role but a driver of innovation and change. However, a concerning trend has emerged—a notable departure of women from CEO positions. This trend isn't just about job changes; it’s a reflection of deeper systemic issues within the corporate world. Recent insights highlight that traditional views on leadership still prevail, often sidelining proven competencies in favor of familiar patterns. As a woman executive in retail, I have witnessed firsthand the cost of such missed opportunities. The reluctance to embrace women in leadership roles, under the guise of avoiding 'risks,' ignores the vast evidence supporting the effectiveness of female leadership. Women leaders bring to the table qualities that are irreplaceable—they drive productivity, inspire motivation, are masters at multitasking, and have proven to be immensely profitable. The departure of women from top roles is not just a loss of individual talent but a missed opportunity for companies to evolve and adapt to modern demands. As we move forward, it’s crucial for businesses to champion diversity at the highest levels and to recognize the strength that women leaders bring. It's time to dispel outdated biases, and truly value leadership talent, by leading with DEI. https://lnkd.in/gYbVqe-j #DEILeadership #HighlandValleyDigital #WomenInBusiness #DiversityAndInclusion #CorporateLeadership

Today is international women’s day. The theme is #inspiringinclusion! This is a topic I’m really passionate about, working in a sector which has always struggled for diversity and attracting great diverse talent, which is of course needed to have a growing and sustainable business (as well as simply being the right thing to do). I’m lucky to work for an amazing CEO, Charley Maher, who just yesterday with the Executive and I had our annual leadership conference for South Staffordshire Plc celebrating all the things that make us great, our people being one of them. Seeing such a great diverse leadership mix was lovely to see, but there is much more to do to reach equity, even in our group. I’m also lucky to be the current deputy national chair of The Pipeline Industries Guild, who have always championed diversity and inclusion in our sector. The leadership team there being all women currently and incidentally the guild is performing at its best for over 20 years! Well done to Kate Lazenby Rachel Bridge for being so driven in a very un-diverse sector. I also do now and have previously had the opportunity to work alongside some great female leaders who drive their teams and businesses forward Vicki Shaw Katie Young Sarah McBride. You have also taught me a lot around how to include and inspire others to develop. Thank you! As male leaders, there are always things we can individually do to champion this cause: - mentor women with talent and promote them personally - check our own bias when it comes to the allocation of development projects - check in on our ‘man-spalining’ and remove that patronising approach - push forward and support EDI initiatives across our business - celebrate female successes (which for now is sadly still required) - last but not least, call out bad behaviour and be a role model for inclusion #inspireinclusion
