Steve Handley, Workshop Supervisor at Integrated Water Services M&E, clocked up 50 years of service within the Group in September, and colleagues, past and present, joined him last week to congratulate him on his remarkable achievement. 🎉👏 Steve joined South Staffs Water in 1974 as an apprentice, going on to gain a full-time role once he completed his qualification. Today, we stand with other businesses across the world in support of #WorldSuicidePreventionDay - sometimes the hardest words to say are the most important. A huge thank you to our Mental Health First Aider community for running an important webinar today for our teams on spotting the signs that a colleague, friend or loved one may be struggling and how to offer support. By talking more openly about suicide, we can give more people the chance to express how they feel and get the support they need. It could even save a life. #WSPD

Wow! 🎉5️⃣0️⃣🎉 We'd like to say a big congratulations, and thank you, to Steve Handley, who celebrates an amazing 50 years of service within South Staffs Plc today! Steve started his career as an apprentice for South Staffs Water in 1974 and has worked his way up through various roles, including Mechanical Fitter and Operations Manager. Steve is currently a workshop supervisor at Integrated Water Services M&E and has been with the business since it was formed in 2004. 🗨 Steve commented: “I can honestly say that over the last fifty years, I have been very lucky to stay within the same company and meet some wonderful people. I know retirement is on the horizon but while I feel the company can use me, I’m happy to stay on and have not set any confirmed date to call it a day yet.” #workiversary #longservice #careerdevelopment #waterindustry

In the wake of one of the most traumatic events, any parent and community can experience, like so many, I’ve been saddened and completely outraged at the scenes unfolding across the country where organised thuggery (as these are not protests) have focused on bullying, marginalising and physically harming people, due to their religion or the colour of their skin. These people don’t represent Great Britain, there is nothing great about their behaviour. The people I align with are those in the community coming together, supporting each other with physical clean ups, and wellbeing support, not forgetting our police force and emergency responders who have had to stand strong, in what are no doubt, very scary scenes. South Staffordshire Plc will always be a safe place for our people to work, and a team and community focused on support and #inclusion 🫶🫶🏻🫶🏼🫶🏽🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏿 #iseeyou #ihearyou #istandwithyou

Guest speaker at our Group Health & Safety Leadership conference was the brilliant Al Peasland. Al provided some great insights into the world of Formula 1 and how we can learn to be higher performing teams based on some of the lessons learned in the world of motorsport.
