When things happen, it is imperative to analyze, learn from them, and apply the lessons to avoid reoccurrence, especially if they are negative occurrences. Everyone has analyzed the incident that claimed the lives of some movie actors including Jr. Pope from the spiritual angle. Let's take a career-wise approach to this analysis. Every career field has its risks, which is why performing a workplace risk assessment is crucial. Any organization that values its employees hires professionals to assess the work environment and put safety measures in place. This ensures a safe and conducive work environment for everyone involved. I am not a safety officer. However, immediately after my NYSC program, I enrolled in HSE training and learned the basics of workplace safety and health management. When I resumed as an operations manager at my current workplace, I noticed that there were no fire extinguishers and first-aid kits available, even though we work with a lot of machines. I immediately took action and requested for them to be bought. 📌As an aspiring career professional, it is vital to take HSE training to learn the basics of safety and health management in the workplace. This knowledge is crucial in identifying any potential risks and hazards. 📌Furthermore, it is essential to prioritize your safety and well-being. If you identify any risk in your work environment, and there are no measures put in place to manage life-threatening situations, please decline the offer. No amount of money is worth your life. From a post that Jr. Pope made hours before the ugly incident occurred, he realized that the necessary safety measures were not provided but he proceeded with the journey. Why? 🤔 Well, it is not the time to blame the dead but to learn from the lessons and take action to prevent reoccurrence. In our career pursuit, we must prioritize our safety and not be blinded by our desires. May their souls find rest and may their families be strengthened as they mourn their loved ones. #phenomenalwoman #workplacesafety #workplaceculture #employeelifematters

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) are crucial aspects of ensuring the wellbeing of individuals, not just in the workplace, but also at home and our environment. Caring for the physical and mental health of workers and people around me is a strong passion I have. Another strong passion I have is ensuring work is carried out safely, following laid down processes, protocols and using equipment and tools fit for purpose. Environmental protection from degradation is also a major interest I have. These are the reasons I ventured into the HSE profession. Today, I help train several people on best safety approach and practices. Let's work together to create a safer, healthier, and more sustainable world! #HSE #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyIsMyPassion Hannah Shobajo BSc, MSc, ISPON, NEBOSH IGC Michael Ogbuefi (Ph.D) Precious Ogechi Ogbueri

Why I find Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) to be such an intriguing and meaningful profession: 1. Without being doctors, we administer first aid and care for injuries. 2. Without being technical engineers, we advise on and engage in various engineering tasks. That’s why HSE is often called the "mother of all engineering." 3. Without an MBA, we dive deep into management concerns. 4. Without being artists, we perform a show every morning—our toolbox talks and training sessions. 5. Without being writers, we craft impactful messages and create safety posters. 6. Without being social workers, we ensure welfare facilities are in place for everyone. 7. The main thing is we give a best covered to all departments, environment, commercial, Human Resource and management. 8. Our ultimate goal is simple: making sure everyone goes home safely. The work we do behind the scenes is immense, but every effort is worth it when it means preventing incidents, accidents, and serious injuries. Proud to be part of this profession that touches every aspect of the workplace! 🚧👷♂️🦺 #HSE #SafetyFirst #WorkplaceSafety #ProudSafetyProfessional ⛑️

As I continue my journey in the field of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), I am thrilled to delve into various crucial topics that ensure a safe and healthy workplace. Today, I'd like to highlight Emergency Preparedness. 🚨Why Emergency Preparedness?🚨 Emergencies can strike at any time, whether it's a natural disaster, a fire, or a chemical spill. Being prepared means having a plan in place to protect employees, minimize damage, and ensure a swift response. 🔍Key Aspects of Emergency Preparedness: 1. Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards and evaluate their impact. 2. Emergency Plans: Develop clear and actionable plans for different scenarios. 3. Training: Regular drills and training sessions to ensure everyone knows their role. 4. Communication: Establish effective communication channels for swift information dissemination. 5. Resources: Ensure the availability of necessary equipment and supplies. By focusing on these elements, we can create a resilient and responsive workplace, ready to handle any emergency that comes our way. Let's work together to build a safer future! #HSE #EmergencyPreparedness #WorkplaceSafety #HealthAndSafety #JuniorEngineer #ProfessionalGrowth

Chair of the IIRSM Wales Branch | Director | Head of Risk at PCR Global | Owner & Developer at Fit for Purpose | Fellow of IoL, IIRSM and IOSH | Chartered Quality Professional at the Chartered Quality Institute
Strong Management = ENFORCING SAFE SYSTEMS OF WORK!! When a Risk Assessment is not enough **Trusting workers to manage their own H&S is often not enough **Removing some base Site Rules to look less bureaucratic can be dangerous **Not **rocking the boat** and blindly misappropriating a ‘New View‘ approach won’t cut it in court of law or to a dead persons family As a Consultant I have disagreed, and still do with some companies, over the Managers/Supervisors obligation to monitor and enforce the Safe Systems of Work that are the ACTIONS from a risk assessment … FACT - It’s all eye rolling 🙄 and banter until your mate is dead in a heap on the floor ... this tragic event highlights why Managers must MONITOR the daily application of Safe Systems of Work and employees must adhere to Site Rules We are all human. Many of us cut corners. We’ve got to hold each other to account out of respect and a moral duty of care 😌 … it’s what good friends and colleagues do ….. An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that “Williams Haulage had carried out a risk assessment that identified the risk from falls and introduced control measures, but these had not been used in practice. There was a lack of supervision and monitoring by Williams Haulage to check that these control measures were being used by its staff. Additionally, insufficient consideration had been given to visiting drivers, particularly when English is not their first language..” HSE inspector, Matthew Pendle said: “This incident could so easily have been avoided had the company simply ensured the control measures and safe working practices were followed and that visiting drivers were informed of the site’s safety rules.”.” Such sad but avoidable event 😕 Thanks for reading, and forcing those changes through if need be, Andy PCR Global Limited #healthandsafety #dutyofcare #leadership
