Climate change is the defining challenge of our time, and youth are leading the fight for a resilient future. But to truly create lasting change, youth activism must be grounded in research and evidence. Here are the three reasons why we need more Research-based youth activism, especially in #climateadaptation: 🔹Science-backed activism equips youth to advocate for practical, impactful climate solutions. 🔹Policymakers are more likely to listen to well-researched solutions. Research-based activism bridges the gap between theory and real-world action. 🔹Backed by science, young activists gain credibility and show they have actionable, informed solutions. Climate change is the challenge of our generation, and youth are at the forefront of driving solutions. But how can we ensure that our activism leads to real, lasting impact? By grounding it in research and evidence. In my latest blog, I explore the importance of research-based youth activism in #ClimateAdaptation and why it’s crucial to align our passion with practical, science-backed solutions. After two years of research and writing—Yes, it is longer than publishing an academic article!—this piece is finally live. As someone who has always advocated for research-based advocacy, I firmly believe that evidence-based activism is more fruitful and leads to more effective, long-term solutions. When our voices are backed by credible research, we are not only more persuasive but also able to offer tangible solutions. 🔍 Three key reasons we need more research-driven activism: 1️⃣ Science-backed solutions empower young activists to push for real change. 2️⃣ Policymakers are more likely to listen when we present well-researched, practical actions. 3️⃣ Credibility matters. Research gives young advocates a stronger voice and the tools to propose informed, impactful ideas. I’m grateful to everyone who shaped my thinking and helped strengthen this work. Dive into the blog, and let’s continue the fight for a resilient, sustainable future! In the spirit of international Pride month, it's important to recognise the profound connection between social justice and climate activism. ✊ At the core of this connection are the principles of Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Safety (JEDIS) – values that are fundamental to our work here at Greenpeace. ➡ Click the link below to find out 5 important questions around JEDIS and how these values intersect with climate activism.

On this International Youth Day, we reject the performative gestures that tokenize our presence in climate justice spaces. As Climate Sirens, young women and girls from SWANA refuse to be passive participants in the fight for our planet’s future. We have been on the frontlines, leading social and climate justice movements, preserving our earth, and repairing the damage inflicted by corporations, oligarchs, and those in power. It is time to decolonize climate justice spaces and amplify the voices of those most affected yet most unheard. Our leadership is not optional; it is essential. Our voices will no longer be silenced or sidelined. We are here to dismantle oppressive systems and build a future rooted in justice, equity, and sustainability for all. #ClimateJustice #YouthDay #SWANAResilience
