Reflection on week 6: In Week 6 of the Oxford School of Climate Change, the focus was on "Climate Action from Above and Below." This topic explored the multifaceted approaches to addressing climate change, including initiatives led by governments, institutions, and businesses ("from above"), as well as grassroots movements, community actions, and individual efforts ("from below"). The aim was to examine how these complementary approaches can work together to achieve meaningful progress in mitigating climate change and fostering sustainability. Kaya Axelsson, the Net Zero Policy Engagement Fellow, embodies a holistic approach to driving climate action by combining grassroots and institutional strategies. This integrated approach underscores the importance of bridging diverse stakeholders to enact meaningful change in the fight against climate change.

The climate is everyone's problem. I have spent a considerable amount of time in the last few months, educating myself on the environmental issues affecting our world in disastrous ways; speaking to people working in different industries to hear their perspectives; to understand one simple thing - no matter what your interests, academics, or profession, you can contribute towards mitigating climate change meaningfully. No one puts it better than Amitav Ghosh in his book, 'The Great Derangement', where he says that literature in fact, has critically missed out on talking about climate change, and that has been a major loss of impact. After much thought, I have decided to start '𝐂 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞', a holistic community of climate enthusiasts, to encourage discussion that can lead to action. I hope for this to be a community that will consist of students, professionals, and experts from all walks of life, where people can come together to learn and teach, to ask and answer, to share and seize opportunities to volunteer or participate in on-ground work. The possibilities are endless. If you are interested in learning more about the greatest challenge humanity faces today, and/or if you are already working towards this cause (and hence, have much value to offer), then please fill out this short form and you will be added to the group: https://lnkd.in/gYxfQyHY Excited! 😃 #CforClimate #community #climate #climatechange #communitybuilding

Every day is a school day... Really upped my climate change knowledge at Carbon Literacy training day provided by Anthony Daly ( PIEMA,REnvP ) and James Dove of ClimateEQ and thanks to Staffordshire Business Environment Network. Change takes time, but the most important part is to take steps in the right direction and believe that collective action will make a difference. If you can’t IMAGINE a better future, then you can’t CREATE one #sustainability #climatechange #greenfuture #bepartofthesolution
