More than 100,000 acres of public land in Colorado are corner-locked - inaccessible to the public due to a checkerboard pattern of land ownership. 🏁 ❌ While these areas do come up against other public lands areas at each of the four corners, the legality of “corner cross” to access it is legally contested. After Four hunters crossed private airspace to access a public land plot, the billionaire ranch owner sued them for $7 million in damages by undermining the “exclusivity” of the ranch. 🧑🏼⚖️ 🥾 The case is now being appealed to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, whose decision will create precedent across multiple western states. That’s why we are focusing on unlocking access to corner-locked land as one of our 2025 Policy Priorities. Learn more about this complex land access issue in our new article.👇🏼 https://zurl.co/mwad #CornerCrossing #LandAccess #COpolicy #COleg
