The SAFE-MCS study results were finally published and released this past weekend at #CRT2024! The Saranas Early Bird Bleed Detection Monitor helped with reducing bleeding events in patients undergoing complex PCI’s with MCS (mechanical circulatory support). This is a great initiative in driving patient safety! I am happy to have been apart of working with all of the physicians, nurses, and other staff members that made the SAFE-MCS study possible! 4.2 % BARC III/V Bleed rate vs. the historical 12.5% in the Protect II study. Correlated to a 66.3 relative reduction in severe bleeding events.
Saranas is proud to announce the groundbreaking results from the SAFE-MCS study, showcasing the Early Bird Bleed Monitoring System's significant impact in reducing bleeding complications in patients undergoing complex PCI with mechanical circulatory support. Dr. Babar Basir presented the results at #CRT2024, which showed a 4.2% BARC III/V bleed rate versus the historical control of 12. 5% in the PROTECT II study. This correlated to a 66.3% relative reduction in severe bleeding events, marking a notable advancement in patient safety. The Early Bird not only enhances clinical outcomes, but also sets new standards in real-time bleed detection and patient monitoring during Protected PCI. We would like to extend our gratitude to the co-PIs of the study, Babar Basir and Philippe Généreux, and to all the sites for their efforts in contributing to the success of this study. https://lnkd.in/emkYa6Bt

Patient advocate for death with dignity, former WAPA president Co host PA Playbook, speaker end of life care.
I had the pleasure of delivering the keynote to the Tacoma MEDEX class 10. It was an honor to see 30 newly minted PAs full of excitement as they embark on their careers. I am adding my remarks. The 12 lessons I learned after 40 years. 1. Stay humble no matter how accomplished you become, humility keeps you honest. Don't be afraid to ask for help. 2. Listening is an art. The three other instruments to bring to the exam room are Your eyes hands and compassion. It is a sacred place. Patients trust you by your very presence. They will share stories, don't be shocked. Save your shock for outside the room. Be prepared for door know moments, it's the reason they need to be seen. 3. Fear is good. If the patient is going to keep you up at night, you're not done. Develop a strong differential, if you don't think of the disease you'll never find it. Follow up. 4. Treat the patient not the disease. Who is this patient? what obstacles do they face in finding care? Can they afford your prescription and plan? 5. Never take away hope even in a terminal illness. Assess what they want to know, help your patients prepare for the worst and hope for the best because patients change what they hope for. Don't be afraid to share their sorrow. It shows you're human. 6. Get out of your "fraidy hole" (Oklahoma term for where you go there's a tornado) never be afraid to ask for help. 7. Always do the right thing. Every patient deserves your best. 8. If the shoe doesn't fit, find another shoe. Find the organization that will help you thrive as a PA. 9. Be kind. There will be times you will be challenged by patients physicians and organizations. State your case without anger and you will be heard. 10. You can guide healing when there is no cure by providing a safe place built with empathy. You will meet courageous patients, let then teach you how to live. 11. You are the future of medicine. Medicine is about finding our share humanity in a world constantly pressuring us to take shortcuts and to rely on impersonal ways of managing complex human problems. It takes a team. 12. Join your state and national organization and bring your time and talent. We're here to help. Good luck and may the force be with you. Congratulations

Our CEO/Co-owner, Rick Barney MBA, MSW, LCSW, LCAS and Medical Director and Executive Director, Gabrielle Neal-Barney MMS,PA-C,CAQ-P presenting to members of AIS on one of the things Momentum Recovery does best, addressing relapse from an attachment based perspective. One thing I appreciate most about our philosophy is the fact that relapse in and of itself does not automatically constitute an administrative discharge from our program but, highlights the need to address other factors in a higher level of care internally. It’s our job to re-create a healthy family system for our clients and foster an environment of secure attachment.
ICYMI: All of us at Momentum Recovery were thrilled to take part in the Association of Intervention Specialists Conference this week, right here on the North Carolina shore! 🌊🐚 It has been a great few days so far of connecting and learning with the larger recovery community. Our Medical Director, Gabi Neal-Barney, and Co-Founder & CEO, Rick Barney, added some of their own invaluable knowledge and perspective to the conference’s takeaways with their presentation Redefining Success: An Attachment Based Approach to Navigating Relapse. Thank you to all who participated and attended! See you again soon!
